Forbidden Whispers

Chapter 1: Shadows of Desire

I’ve always known there was something different about my family. I’m Noah Voss, the quieter twin, the one who watches from the sidelines while my brother Liam and our mother, Eva, seem to share a world I can’t quite touch. They’ve got this electric energy, a bond that crackles with secrets I can’t decipher. Tonight, though, something feels... off. We’re in the dimly lit living room of our upscale loft, the city skyline glittering through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and I can’t shake the feeling I’m missing something right under my nose.

Mom’s perched on the edge of the leather couch, her long legs crossed, a glass of red wine in her hand. She’s a force—sharp-tongued, confident, with a body that commands attention in her tight black dress. At 42, Eva Voss is a goddamn queen, and she knows it. Liam’s sprawled next to her, too close for casual, his arm draped lazily over the back of the couch, fingers brushing her shoulder. I’m on the armchair across from them, nursing a beer, trying to focus on the movie flickering on the screen. But their laughter, their whispered jabs, keep pulling me in.

‘Noah, you’re so damn serious,’ Liam teases, his smirk sharp as a blade. ‘Loosen up, bro. Mom’s got enough edge for all of us.’

Eva’s lips curl into a wicked grin, her dark eyes glinting as she leans toward Liam, her voice a low purr. ‘Oh, sweetheart, I’ve got more than edge. I’ve got bite. Care to test it?’

I roll my eyes, but there’s a heat in my chest I can’t name. Their banter always feels like a game I’m not invited to play. ‘You two are ridiculous,’ I mutter, taking a swig of my beer. ‘Can we just watch the damn movie?’

Liam chuckles, his hand sliding down Mom’s arm, a subtle graze I almost miss. ‘Sure, Noah. Whatever you say. But you’re missing the real show.’

My brow furrows. ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’

Eva cuts in, her tone dripping with mischief. ‘Oh, nothing, darling. Liam’s just being a brat. Aren’t you, love?’ She turns to him, her hand resting on his thigh, fingers digging in just enough to make me notice. My stomach twists. It’s... intimate. Too intimate. But I shake it off. I’m imagining things. I have to be.

The movie drones on, but I’m hyper-aware of every move they make. The way Mom shifts, her dress riding up her thigh. The way Liam’s gaze lingers on her, hungry, predatory. Then I see it—her hand slips under the throw blanket draped over their laps, and Liam’s jaw tightens, a smirk playing on his lips. My heart races. What the hell are they doing?

‘Getting a little hot in here, isn’t it?’ Eva murmurs, her voice a velvet blade, eyes locked on Liam. She’s not talking to me. She’s not even looking at me.

‘Yeah,’ Liam breathes, his voice rough, almost a growl. ‘Burning up, Ma.’

I shift in my seat, uncomfortable, confused. My beer’s forgotten in my hand. I want to say something, to call them out, but my throat’s dry. Under that blanket, I swear I see movement—slow, deliberate. My mind screams to look away, but I can’t. There’s a tension in the air, thick and suffocating, and I’m caught in it.

Eva’s breath hitches, just loud enough for me to hear, and Liam’s hand grips the couch, knuckles white. ‘Careful,’ she whispers to him, her tone sharp but laced with something raw, something primal. ‘Don’t let him see how hard you are for me.’

My pulse hammers. Did I hear that right? No. I couldn’t have. But my eyes dart to the blanket, to the way it shifts, and I know. I fucking know. My mother and my brother—they’re playing a dangerous game, right in front of me. And I’m frozen, torn between shock and a dark, twisted curiosity I can’t admit.

Eva’s eyes flick to me for a split second, a challenge in her gaze, before she turns back to Liam. ‘Keep it quiet, baby,’ she murmurs, her voice dripping with control. ‘We’ve got an audience.’

I’m sweating now, my grip on the beer bottle tight. I should leave. I should say something. But I don’t. I just sit there, watching the shadows of their secret dance, knowing that under that blanket, her hand is on his cock, stroking him slow and deliberate, making him pant for more. And I can’t look away.
