Chapter 1: Welcome to the Jungle
David stepped into the sprawling frat house, his duffel bag slung over one shoulder, the scent of stale beer and musk hitting him like a wall. The place was a chaotic masterpiece—red solo cups littered the floor, posters of half-naked women adorned the walls, and the air buzzed with the raw energy of unchecked masculinity. He’d scored a spare room here through a campus housing lottery, a non-frat guy in the heart of bro territory. And damn, did they make sure he knew it from the get-go.
‘Hey, fresh meat!’ boomed a voice from the living room. A shirtless giant named Travis, all chiseled abs and cocky grin, strode over, his bare chest glistening with a sheen of sweat. ‘Welcome to the jungle, Davey-boy. You ready to be one of the bros?’
David raised an eyebrow, adjusting his glasses. ‘I’m just here for the room, man. Not signing up for the frat life.’
Travis laughed, a deep, guttural sound, and clapped David on the back hard enough to make him stumble. ‘Oh, you’ll fit in just fine. We’ve got ways of breakin’ ya in.’ Before David could respond, Travis let out a monstrous burp, leaning in close and blowing the sour stench right into David’s face. ‘First rule of the house—ya gotta take it like a man!’
David coughed, waving a hand in front of his nose, but couldn’t help the smirk tugging at his lips. ‘Real classy, Travis. What’s next, you gonna fart on my pillow?’
‘Nah, better,’ chimed in another bro, Jake, a lean, tanned guy with a devilish smirk, as he sauntered over, also shirtless, his jeans slung low on his hips. He turned, bent slightly, and cupped a hand over his ass, releasing a silent but deadly puff before wafting it toward David. ‘Smell that brotherhood, dude. Pure love.’
David recoiled, half-laughing, half-gagging. ‘You guys are disgusting. I’m gonna need a hazmat suit just to sleep here.’
‘Aw, come on, don’t be a pussy,’ Jake teased, stepping closer, his voice dropping to a playful taunt. ‘We’re just messin’ with ya. Gotta toughen up if you’re livin’ with us.’ He lifted an arm, exposing a damp, musky armpit, and shoved it near David’s face. ‘Take a whiff, nerd. That’s what a real man smells like.’
David ducked away, his cheeks flushing—not from embarrassment, but from the weird, electric tension crackling in the air. These guys were crude, sure, but there was a strange warmth in their roughhousing, a camaraderie he hadn’t expected. Still, he wasn’t about to let them think they could walk all over him. ‘Keep that swamp pit away from me, Jake. I’ve got standards.’
Travis roared with laughter, slinging an arm around David’s shoulders. ‘Kid’s got balls! I like him already. Come on, let’s show ya your room—and maybe a few more house rules.’
They led him upstairs, the hallway lined with more shirtless bros, each one nodding or grinning at him like wolves sizing up a new pack member. David’s room was a small, bare space at the end of the hall, but as he dropped his bag, Travis and Jake exchanged a look that screamed mischief.
‘One more welcome gift,’ Travis said, his voice low and teasing. He pushed David onto the bed with a playful shove, then straddled his chest, pinning him down. ‘Hold still, bro.’ With a wicked grin, he let out a loud, rumbling fart right over David’s face, the hot, rancid air making him squirm.
‘Jesus, Travis, get off me!’ David laughed despite himself, pushing against the bigger guy’s thighs. ‘You’re gonna kill me before I even unpack!’
Jake leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, his eyes glinting with something darker, hungrier. ‘Nah, we’re just gettin’ started, Davey. Stick around, and you’ll see how we really party.’
David’s pulse quickened at the undertone in Jake’s voice, the way his gaze lingered just a little too long. The room felt suddenly smaller, the air thick with unspoken challenges and raw, primal energy. He wasn’t sure if he was more annoyed or intrigued, but one thing was clear—this house was going to be anything but boring. And as Jake’s smirk widened, David felt a heat stirring deep inside, a curiosity about just how far these ‘house rules’ might go.
