The verdant pastures at the foot of the mountain sprawled out before the haughty dragon, Draega, as she perched triumphantly on a cliff overlooking the valley. She had just fought off a knight who dared to challenge her, and now she mocked him as he retreated, his armor clanking with each defeated step.
“Farewell, brave knight!” Draega called out, her voice echoing through the valley. “I’ll be sure to savor your tales of courage as I dine on your comrades!”
Draega’s laughter filled the air as she watched the knight disappear into the distance. She was confident that she had nothing to fear from him or any other mortal. With her power and cunning, she was invincible.
But as Draega returned to her lair, her stomach growled, reminding her of her insatiable hunger. She decided to venture down the mountain in search of her favorite snack - succulent sheep.
On her way, she encountered an old wizard, Elric, whose cart had broken down. He pleaded with her to help, but she scoffed at the idea of assisting a mere mortal.
“Begone, old man!” Draega sneered. “I have better things to do than aid the weak and pathetic.”
And with that, she took to the skies, leaving Elric fuming.
Draega reached the pastures and spotted a plump sheep, perfect for her meal. She swooped down and snatched the sheep in her claws, reveling in the fear of the creature beneath her.
“Hello, dinner,” Draega taunted, her voice dripping with mockery. “I’ve been looking forward to devouring you.”
The sheep begged for mercy, its bleating pitiful and weak. But Draega only laughed, enjoying the power she held over the creature.
“Please, have mercy!” the sheep cried. “I have a family to feed!”
But Draega merely sneered. “Your pleas fall on deaf ears, supper. I am the master of my own hunger.”
Suddenly, Elric’s spell took effect, and Draega felt a strange sensation coursing through her body. She looked down and saw that she had been transformed into a sheep.
The sheep, now a fearsome dragon, roared triumphantly, ready to take revenge on Draega.
“Well, well, well, look who’s become the prey,” the dragon taunted, her voice deep and menacing. “I’ll enjoy devouring you, Draega.”
Draega, now in a vulnerable position, tried to reason with the dragon. But the dragon only laughed, reveling in the reversal of roles.
“Your words mean nothing to me now, Draega,” the dragon sneered. “You are nothing but a snack to me.”
The dragon began to torment Draega, using her own insults against her. Draega, humiliated and scared, tried to escape, but the dragon was relentless.
As the dragon continued her torment, she became distracted by her newfound power and size. Draega, sensing an opportunity, made a run for it.
Draega, now a fugitive, ran through the pastures, trying to find help. She came across the knight she had fought earlier, who was surprised to see a sheep acting so strangely.
“Please, kind sir,” Draega pleaded, her voice trembling. “I need your help. I’ve been transformed into a sheep, and I need to regain my true form.”
The knight was hesitant but saw the fear in Draega’s eyes. He agreed to help, but only if Draega promised to change her ways.
“I swear it, kind sir,” Draega said, her voice filled with regret. “I will never again mock or harm the mortals who share this land with me.”
And so, the knight and Draega set off to find the dragon and break Elric’s spell. Draega began to feel a strange affection for the knight, realizing that she had never met a man as kind and selfless as him.
The dragon, still in her new form, saw Draega and the knight approaching. She prepared to attack, but then recognized the knight as the one who had shown her kindness in the past. She hesitated, unsure of what to do.
But in that moment of hesitation, Draega and the knight were able to break the spell and restore Draega to her true form.
Draega, now human again, thanked the knight and promised to keep her word.
“I will never forget your kindness, kind sir,” Draega said, her voice filled with gratitude. “I will use my power to protect, not harm.”
And with that, Draega flew back to her lair, a changed dragon. She had learned the hard way that even the most powerful beings could be brought low, and that kindness and compassion were the greatest strengths of all.
