Mark stormed into the office, his face contorted with rage. He had just witnessed John, his boss, blatantly flaunting his newfound power in the lobby. The genie’s joke was on him, and Mark was not amused.
John, still wrapped up in a passionate kiss with the secretary, smirked and gestured for Mark to come closer. Mark clenched his fists, trying to keep his cool as he approached. The humiliation was palpable, but Mark was determined not to let John see him sweat.
As Mark got closer, John broke away from the secretary, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “Still jealous, Mark?” he taunted.
Mark gritted his teeth, trying to ignore the burning sensation in his chest. “I don’t need your genie to get what I want,” he growled.
John raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? Then why are you still here, working for me?”
Mark took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice steady. “Because I have principles,” he retorted.
John laughed. “Principles won’t get you far in this world, Mark. But they’re cute.”
Mark felt a surge of anger. “And using a genie to cheat your way to the top is...what, noble?”
John grinned. “Effective,” he corrected.
Mark clenched his fists tighter, trying to keep his temper in check. “Fine. I’ll go back to work. But I won’t forget this.”
John waved a hand dismissively. “Go ahead, Mark. I’ll be here, enjoying my new empire.”
Mark turned to leave, but not before throwing a parting shot. “Enjoy your secretary, John. I’m sure she’s the only thing you can handle.”
John burst out laughing. “Oh, Mark, you’re too easy.”
Mark left the office, his mind racing with thoughts of how to beat John without resorting to the genie’s powers. He knew it wouldn’t be easy, but he was determined to prove that hard work and dedication could still win out in the end.
As he walked back to his desk, Mark couldn’t help but feel a sense of disgust at John’s behavior. It was clear that the genie’s joke was on all of them, but Mark was determined not to let it be on him. He would find a way to come out on top, no matter what it took.
Mark sat down at his desk, his mind focused on the task at hand. He would show John that principles and hard work could still win out in the end. He would prove that the genie’s joke was just a cheap trick, and that true power came from within.
As he worked, Mark couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction. He knew that he was doing things the right way, and that in the end, it would all be worth it. He would show John that he didn’t need a genie to succeed, and that true power came from within.
The end.
