Chapter 1: The Unwrapping
The room buzzed with laughter and the clink of champagne glasses as Mike’s annual white elephant gift exchange kicked off in his sprawling penthouse. The city skyline glittered through floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a seductive glow over the six of us—old friends with a penchant for mischief. I, Jake, lounged on the plush leather couch, a smirk playing on my lips as I eyed the wrapped gifts piled under a gaudy, over-decorated Christmas tree. Mike, ever the ostentatious host, grinned like a Cheshire cat, his tailored suit screaming money.
“Alright, degenerates,” Mike drawled, swirling his drink. “Rules are simple. Pick a gift, unwrap it, and no whining if you get a dud. Or... something weirder.” His wink sent a ripple of unease through me, but I brushed it off. Weird was Mike’s middle name.
“Scared, Jakey?” teased Lila, our resident firecracker, her dark eyes glinting with challenge as she leaned forward, her crimson dress hugging every curve. “Bet you’ll get a lump of coal with that attitude.”
“Only if it’s hot enough to burn, babe,” I shot back, winking. Lila rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smirk. She loved the banter as much as I did.
When my turn came, I sauntered to the pile, grabbing a small, poorly wrapped box with a tacky bow. The group hooted as I tore into it, revealing... a training bra. Pale pink, lacy, and utterly ridiculous. Laughter erupted, and I held it up like a trophy.
“Real funny, assholes. Who’s trying to say I need training?” I quipped, dangling the fabric between my fingers. “I’m already a pro at unhooking these.”
“Careful, Jake,” Mike said, his voice dripping with mischief. “Sometimes gifts... change you.”
“Change me? What, into a Victoria’s Secret model?” I snorted, but as the words left my mouth, a strange heat prickled across my skin. My chest tightened, my hips felt... fuller. I glanced down, and my jaw dropped. My body was shifting—curves where there’d been none, a softness I didn’t recognize. The room went silent, all eyes on me as I stumbled back, catching my reflection in a nearby mirror. Holy hell. I was... a woman. A damn fine one, too—petite but stacked, with a body made for sin.
“Jake?” Lila’s voice cut through the haze, sharp and curious. She stepped closer, her gaze raking over me with an intensity that made my newly sensitive skin flush. “Or should I say... Jackie?”
“Call me whatever you want, but explain this shit,” I snapped, my voice higher, smoother, but still carrying my usual edge. I crossed my arms over my chest, feeling the weight of it, and glared at Mike. “What the hell did you do?”
Mike shrugged, unfazed. “Told you. Gifts have power. Looks like yours decided you needed a new perspective. And damn, you wear it well.”
“Flattery won’t save you,” I hissed, but Lila’s hand on my arm stopped me cold. Her touch was electric, sending a jolt straight through me, awakening something raw and hungry in this unfamiliar body.
“Relax, hotshot,” Lila purred, her lips curling into a wicked smile. “You’re still you, just... upgraded. Wanna test drive that new chassis?” Her fingers traced up my arm, teasing, daring me to bite.
I swallowed hard, heat pooling low in my belly. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Lila,” I warned, but my voice betrayed me, thick with a need I couldn’t name yet. My skin was buzzing, every nerve on fire as her scent—jasmine and spice—filled my senses.
“Danger’s my middle name,” she shot back, stepping closer, her breath warm against my ear. “Question is, are you still game, or does this new body make you shy?”
Shy? Hell no. I smirked, leaning in, my lips brushing the shell of her ear. “Babe, I’m about to show you just how game I am.”
The room faded as her hand slid to my waist, pulling me flush against her. My heart raced, this new body aching in ways I’d never felt—wet, desperate, dripping with want. Her fingers dug into my hip, and I knew we were seconds from exploding, right here, in front of everyone. Let them watch. I didn’t care. I was ready to claim this moment, this body, and every wicked promise in Lila’s eyes.
