Goddess in Handcuffs: Cady's Unexpected Invention

Chapter One: The Unexpected Announcement

The Great Hall of Olympus was abuzz with the sound of laughter and clinking glasses as the gods and goddesses feasted on ambrosia and nectar. The scents of honey and roasting meat filled the air, and the ethereal light of the hall shimmered off the golden plates and goblets.

Cady, the goddess of inventions and technology, made her way through the crowd, her light brown hair shimmering like spun gold. She was known for her strong and independent personality, and was a minor goddess of wisdom. As she walked, she noticed the whispers and stares that followed her, but she paid them no mind.

Hephaestus, the god of fire and metalworking, approached Cady, his face filled with concern. "Cady, I want to thank you for standing by me when I was humiliated by Aphrodite and Ares," he said, taking her hand in his.

Cady smiled warmly at Hephaestus, her heart swelling with affection for the kind and gentle god. "Of course, Hephaestus. We're friends, and that's what friends do."

Hephaestus looked at her, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you. I don't know what I would have done without you."

Cady squeezed his hand, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I have something important to tell you," she said, leading him to a secluded corner of the hall.

Hephaestus looked at her, his brow furrowed in confusion. "What is it, Cady?"

Cady took a deep breath, her heart racing with excitement. "I'm pregnant, Hephaestus," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Hephaestus's face lit up with joy and disbelief. "What? But how? I thought I was infertile."

Cady laughed, her eyes shining with happiness. "Apparently not. I took a test, and it was positive. I'm going to be a mother."

Hephaestus pulled Cady into a tight embrace, his heart swelling with love and joy. "I can't believe it. I'm going to be a father."

Cady pulled back, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "You were a little slow on the uptake, Hephaestus. I thought you were a three-legged tortoise for a moment there."

Hephaestus laughed, his eyes filled with warmth. "And you're a know-it-all bookworm. But I wouldn't have it any other way."

Cady and Hephaestus shared a tender moment, their love growing stronger as they prepared to welcome their child into the world.

As they returned to the feast, Aphrodite and Ares entered the hall, their eyes locked on Cady and Hephaestus. Cady rolled her eyes and muttered, "Here come the lovebirds, acting like they own the place."

Aphrodite approached Cady, trying to congratulate her, but Cady cut her off with a sharp remark. "I don't need your fake congratulations, Aphrodite. You've caused enough trouble."

Ares tried to defend Aphrodite, but Cady dismissed him with a wave of her hand. "You're just as guilty, Ares. Don't even bother."

The rest of the feast continued, with Cady and Hephaestus sharing secret smiles and stolen glances.

Later that night, Cady confided in her trusted friend, Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare. Athena congratulated Cady and offered her support, reminding Cady that she was strong and capable of handling whatever came her way.

Cady thanked Athena and they shared a heartfelt moment, with Athena promising to help Cady navigate the challenges ahead.

The chapter ended with Cady and Hephaestus looking forward to the future, their love growing stronger as they prepared to welcome their child into the world. They knew that there would be obstacles and challenges ahead, but they were ready to face them together, as a family.
