The Temple of Athena, high atop the mountain of the gods, was usually a place of serene contemplation for its namesake. But on this day, the goddess of war and wisdom was deep in thought, crafting a new weapon for the next battle. The rhythmic clanging of her hammer against the anvil echoed through the temple, a testament to her fierce determination.
The tranquility was shattered as Zeus, her father and king of the gods, entered the temple unannounced. His booming voice caused Athena to jump, her concentration broken. "Father," she said, her voice steady despite the interruption. "What brings you here?"
Zeus's eyes narrowed as he noticed Athena's flustered state. "What's going on here, daughter?" he demanded, his tone growing more ominous by the second.
Athena, never one to back down, met his gaze directly. "I am pregnant," she revealed, a small smile playing on her lips as she watched her father's face turn various shades of red.
Zeus's anger was palpable. "Who is the father?" he shouted, his voice echoing off the temple walls.
Athena hesitated for a moment before confessing, "It was Hercules, the demigod known for his strength and arrogance."
Zeus erupted, shouting that Hercules was beneath Athena and that she must get an abortion immediately. But Athena stood her ground, her grey eyes flashing with defiance. "I will not harm my children," she stated firmly. "They are a part of me, and I will not abort them."
A tense silence fell between father and daughter as they stared each other down. Athena broke the silence, jabbing a finger in Zeus's direction as she insulted his pride and ego. Zeus roared with anger, but Athena remained unyielding, her voice steady and strong as she defended her decision.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Zeus relented, but not without warning Athena of the challenges she would face as a single mother. Athena nodded, already aware of the difficulties ahead. But she was not afraid, for she was a goddess, and she would face whatever came her way with strength and wisdom.
Nine months passed, and the day of July 12th arrived. Athena gave birth to twins, a girl with curly blonde hair and grey eyes, and a boy with brown hair and brown eyes. She named them Annabeth and Telemachus, and held them close, already fiercely protective of her new family.
As she looked down at her children, Athena knew that she would face any challenge, no matter how great, to protect them. For they were her greatest creation, and she was their goddess, their protector, and their guide. And with that knowledge, she felt a sense of peace and purpose that she had never known before.
