Jack pulled up to the quaint countryside cottage, the smell of fresh cut grass and wildflowers filling the air. He stepped out of the car, stretching his limbs after the long drive. As he approached the front door, it swung open, revealing his grandmother, Beatrice, a fiery and independent woman in her 70s.
"Jack! You're here!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a tight hug. "I've been waiting for you all day!"
Jack laughed, taken aback by her overbearing attitude. "Yeah, I made it in one piece."
Beatrice ushered him inside, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "I'm so glad you're here for the summer. I've got so much planned for us!"
As they sat down to eat, Beatrice started reminiscing about her younger days, her voice filled with a mischievous grin. "You know, Jack, I used to be quite the wild one in my day."
Jack raised an eyebrow, surprised by his grandmother's candor. "Really? I can't imagine that."
Beatrice leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling with a wicked glint. "Oh, I was a real firecracker. I had more lovers than you can count."
Jack choked on his food, his eyes wide with shock. "Grandma!"
Beatrice laughed, patting him on the back. "Don't be so uptight, Jack. It's just a bit of fun."
After dinner, Beatrice suggested they go for a walk in the countryside. Jack agreed, and they set off into the woods. As they walked, Beatrice started flirting with Jack, making playful insults and teasing him.
"You know, Jack, you're not half bad looking," she said, a smirk playing on her lips. "For a stuffy city boy."
Jack rolled his eyes, trying to keep a straight face. "Thanks, Grandma. You're not so bad yourself."
Beatrice took a step closer, her eyes locked on Jack's. "Oh, I know I'm not. I've still got it, you know."
Jack's heart started racing as Beatrice started making more explicit advances. He was shocked by his grandmother's boldness, but he couldn't deny that he was enjoying the attention.
"Grandma, what are you doing?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Beatrice took his hand, leading him to a secluded spot in the woods. "I'm showing you a side of me you never knew existed, Jack."
As they lay together, Beatrice told Jack that she'd always loved him and that she was glad they finally had the chance to express their feelings. Jack agreed, his heart overflowing with love for his grandmother.
They got dressed and started walking back to the cottage. Beatrice suggested they keep their relationship a secret, and Jack agreed. They made a pact to never speak of it again, but they both knew that their bond had changed forever.
They spent the rest of the summer together, enjoying each other's company and exploring their newfound connection. As the summer came to an end, Jack was reluctant to leave. But he knew that he had to return to his normal life.
As he said goodbye to Beatrice, he thanked her for showing him a new side of himself and promised to visit again soon. The chapter ended with Jack driving away, already looking forward to his next visit to his grandmother's cottage.
