Cady, a striking woman with green eyes and light brown hair, dashed to the bathroom, her favorite foods no longer appealing to her delicate senses. With a sigh of relief, she kneeled before the toilet, her long hair cascading over her shoulder as she emptied the contents of her stomach. She wiped her mouth, standing and walking to the sink, catching a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror. Her green eyes seemed brighter, her skin glowing with a newfound vitality.
A mischievous grin spread across her face as she recalled a late-night conversation with her husband, Hephaestus, about starting a family. She opened the cabinet beneath the sink, pulling out a small white stick. With a deep breath, she read the instructions and followed them meticulously.
Time seemed to slow as she waited for the results, her heart pounding in her chest. The minutes stretched into an eternity as she tapped her foot impatiently. Finally, the test revealed its answer, a tiny pink plus sign appearing in the results window. Cady's eyes widened in shock, her heart racing with excitement and fear.
She set the test on the counter, staring at it as if willing it to change. But the plus sign remained, a permanent reminder of the life growing inside her. Cady took a deep breath, her hands trembling as she picked up the test, cradling it gently in her palms. She couldn't wait to share the news with Hephaestus.
She exited the bathroom, her footsteps echoing through the empty bedroom as she searched for her husband. She found him in his workshop, his strong hands covered in soot as he hammered away at a piece of metal. His tan skin glistened with sweat, his dark brown hair sticking to his forehead.
"Hephaestus," she called out, her voice trembling with excitement. "I need to talk to you."
He looked up, his dark eyes meeting hers, a questioning look on his face. She held up the pregnancy test, the plus sign facing him. His eyes widened, his hammer falling from his hands with a loud clatter. He rushed to her side, his arms encircling her waist as he lifted her off the ground, spinning her around in a circle.
"We're going to be parents," he whispered, his lips brushing against her ear. Cady giggled, her heart swelling with love for her husband and the life they've created together.
"I take it that's good news?" she asked, a teasing note in her voice.
Hephaestus set her down, his hands resting on her swelling belly. "The best news," he replied, his eyes shining with happiness.
Cady smiled, her hand covering his. "I can't wait to see what our child will become," she said, her voice filled with wonder.
Hephaestus grinned, his thumb tracing circles on her skin. "With you as their mother, they're sure to be a force to be reckoned with," he said, his voice filled with pride.
Cady laughed, her head falling against his chest. "And with you as their father, they'll have the best teacher in all of Greece," she said, her voice filled with love.
Hephaestus kissed the top of her head, his arms tightening around her. "Together, we'll make the greatest team," he said, his voice filled with certainty.
Cady smiled, her heart filled with love and hope for their future. She knew that with Hephaestus by her side, they could conquer anything. And with a child on the way, their love would only grow stronger.
"I love you, Hephaestus," she said, her voice filled with emotion.
Hephaestus kissed her, his lips gentle on hers. "I love you too, Cady," he replied, his voice filled with promise.
And with that, they began their journey as parents, their love and determination stronger than ever.
