Cady leaned against the cool marble countertop, her favorite breakfast smoothie now a source of disgust. She pushed it away, her stomach churning. *Maybe I'm coming down with something*, she thought, but a small, nagging voice in the back of her mind whispered something different.
She decided to silence that voice with a pregnancy test, half-joking to herself about the low chances of her and Hephaestus having children. Hephaestus looked up, sensing something serious in her tone. He nodded, wiping his hands on a cloth.
Cady took a deep breath. "Well, it seems that the gods have blessed us with a little miracle. I'm pregnant."
Hephaestus's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. Cady playfully rolled her eyes. "I know, I know. You never thought you'd see the day. But here we are, with a tiny god or goddess growing inside of me."
Hephaestus stuttered, trying to find the right words. "C-Cady, I-I don't know what to say. I'm happy, of course. But also...overwhelmed."
Cady chuckled and walked over to Hephaestus, taking his hands in hers. "It's okay, my love. We'll figure it out together. And who knows, maybe it's twins."
Hephaestus raised an eyebrow, and Cady grinned, revealing the positive pregnancy test. His face lit up as he realized the truth. He pulled Cady into a tight embrace, whispering words of love and excitement.
Cady laughed, feeling a sense of peace. She knew they would face challenges ahead, but with Hephaestus by her side, they could handle anything. Together, they would welcome this new chapter in their lives.
