The bathroom was steamy and hot, the mirror fogged up from the recent shower Lake had taken. He stood in front of the mirror, scrutinizing his reflection. His brown hair was damp and stuck to his forehead, his green eyes looked tired and sad. He felt like he was invisible, overshadowed by his identical twin brother, Lucas, who was more popular and outgoing.
He opened the medicine cabinet and took out a pill bottle, contemplating its contents. He felt like no one cared about him, that running away or disappearing would be the only way to get attention. He had been feeling this way for a while now, but today it felt different. More urgent.
The door to the bathroom opened, and Lucas walked in, annoyed that Lake had been in there for so long. "What are you doing in here, drama queen?" Lucas said, playfully insulting him.
Lake, feeling hurt and frustrated, snapped back at Lucas, "I wish I could be as perfect as you."
Lucas, sensing Lake's distress, tried to lighten the mood, "I bet you were having a bathroom rendezvous with your secret lover."
Lake, still feeling down, told Lucas to leave him alone. Lucas, not taking Lake seriously, playfully pushed him aside.
Lake, losing his balance, fell to the floor, hitting his head. Lucas, realizing what happened, quickly called for help.
The paramedics arrived and attempted to revive Lake, but it was too late. They found the pill bottle next to him and assumed he committed suicide.
Lucas was in shock and denial, unable to accept that his brother was gone. He blamed himself for not taking Lake's feelings seriously.
Two months later, Lucas was seen walking home from school, lost in thought. He saw a figure in the distance that looked like Lake. As he got closer, the figure disappeared. Lucas was confused and scared, wondering if it was just his imagination or if it was really Lake's ghost.
Lucas decided to investigate, feeling guilty for not being able to protect Lake. He went to the bathroom where Lake died, hoping to find some answers. As he entered, he saw Lake's ghost standing in front of the mirror. Lake looked at Lucas with a sad expression, as if he's trying to tell him something.
Lucas tried to communicate with Lake, but he couldn't. He realized that Lake's ghost was trying to tell him that he's sorry and that he loves him.
Lucas, feeling a sense of closure, left the bathroom, knowing that Lake is finally at peace. He vowed to be a better brother and to always remember Lake.
"I'm sorry, Lake," Lucas whispered as he walked out of the bathroom. "I'll never forget you."
