The emergency room was a flurry of activity, but Jake's attention was caught by a commotion at the entrance. He glanced up just in time to see a stretcher being rushed in, carrying a beautiful African woman with a disability.
Jake couldn't take his eyes off of her. He excused himself from his patient and made his way over to the woman, who introduced herself as Nia. She thanked him for his concern, but assured him that she was in good hands.
Jake was immediately impressed by Nia's strength and confidence. As he learned more about her disability and how it had affected her life, he found himself drawn to her even more. He knew it was inappropriate, but he couldn't help the way he felt.
Nia noticed Jake's attraction and couldn't help but tease him a little. "You know, you're not exactly winning any points for bedside manner," she said with a playful smile.
