Chapter 1: Shadows of Seduction
The world was a scorched husk, a playground for the infernal trio that ruled with iron fists and wicked grins. King Fara, the cold-hearted sovereign of Hell, sat on his obsidian throne with a gaze that could freeze blood. His younger brother, Fed, was a loudmouthed brute, all swagger and snarl, while their shared consort, Oti, simmered with a quiet intensity that could erupt into a storm at the slightest provocation. Together, they’d devoured the world, and I—Sack, the resident sarcastic healer with a heart too soft for this mess—stood with my ragtag team of five to shove their reign straight back into the abyss.
Liam and Pur, our battle-magic brawlers, were already itching to throw fire and lightning at anything that moved. Bai and Din, my support crew, hovered nearby, ready to patch up whatever dumb injuries we’d inevitably collect. And me? I was just trying to keep everyone alive while dodging the literal flames of Hell. No big deal.
We’d tracked the trio to a ruined cathedral, its spires jagged like the teeth of some ancient beast. The air was thick with sulfur and sin, and I could feel their eyes on us before I even saw them. Fara’s voice slithered through the shadows first, smooth as silk and twice as deadly. 'Ah, Sack. The little healer with a bite. Come to play with the big dogs?'
I rolled my eyes, gripping my staff tighter. 'Play? Nah, I’m here to spay. You’ve been humping this world long enough, don’t you think?'
Fed’s booming laugh echoed off the cracked stone walls, his massive frame stepping into the dim light. 'Oh, I like this one! Mouthy little shit, ain’t ya? Bet that tongue’s good for more than just snark.'
'Keep dreaming, loudmouth,' I shot back, my voice dripping with disdain. 'I’d rather kiss a hellhound than entertain whatever filth is rattling around in that skull of yours.'
Oti emerged last, their presence a quiet storm, eyes glinting with something dangerous and… hungry. 'Careful, Sack,' they murmured, voice low and edged with heat. 'We bite back. And trust me, you’d enjoy it.'
I felt a flush creep up my neck, but I shoved it down with a smirk. 'Tempting, but I’m more into saving the world than playing chew toy for Hell’s power couple plus one.'
Fara tilted his head, his cold smile sharpening. 'You resist now, but I see it—the spark in you. You’re not just a healer. You’re a flame waiting to be stoked.'
'Stoke this,' I snapped, raising my staff as a pulse of healing energy flared, shielding my team. Liam and Pur charged, magic crackling, while Bai and Din flanked me, ready to counter any infernal tricks. The battle was chaos, a blur of fire and shadow, but I couldn’t shake the weight of their gazes. Fara’s icy stare, Fed’s leering grin, Oti’s smoldering intensity—it was like they were peeling me apart, layer by sarcastic layer.
As the fight raged, Fed got too close, his massive hand grabbing for my arm. 'C’mon, pretty boy, join the winning side. We’d treat ya real nice.'
I yanked free, my heart pounding, and hissed, 'Touch me again, and I’ll heal you straight into next week—backwards.'
But the heat in my chest wasn’t just anger. It was something darker, something I didn’t want to name. Oti’s voice cut through the din as they dodged a blast from Pur, their tone almost tender. 'You can’t run from us forever, Sack. We see you. All of you.'
And damn it, I felt it—the pull, the forbidden thrill. My skin prickled as I imagined, just for a split second, what it’d be like to give in. To let Fara’s cold hands pin me down, Fed’s rough grip claim me, Oti’s fiery temper consume me. I shook it off, panting, my grip on my staff slick with sweat. No. I wasn’t their toy, their prize, their anything.
The cathedral trembled as our magic clashed, and I knew this was just the beginning. They wanted me—body, soul, and everything in between—and I’d be damned if I let them have it without a fight. But as we retreated, their laughter lingered in the air, a promise of something hotter, harder, and far more dangerous than any battle I’d ever faced.
And somewhere, deep down, a part of me was already dripping with anticipation.
