Hera's Hand: The Mama's Boy Myth, Where the Goddess Wears the Pants (and Crown)

Chapter One: A Godly Conception

The Royal Bedchamber of Hera, Queen of the Gods, was a sight to behold. Adorned with the finest silks and velvets, the room was a testament to Hera's exquisite taste. As the Queen of the Gods reclined on her opulent bed, she finished weaving a golden tapestry, a devious smile playing on her lips.

The door to the bedchamber creaked open, and in walked Zeus, King of the Gods and Hera's husband. His eyes narrowed as he took in the sight of Hera, her lips curled in a sly grin. "My dear wife, what has you in such high spirits?" he asked, his voice laced with intrigue.

Hera's grin widened as she replied, "I have a little secret to share with you, my love." She patted the bed beside her, inviting Zeus to sit. As he did so, she revealed her pregnancy, her hands gently cradling her belly.

Zeus's eyes widened in shock, followed by a smile that could light up the darkest of nights. "My dear Hera, I had no idea!" he exclaimed, showering her with affection and praise.

Hera playfully chided him, her voice sharp and witty. "Of course you didn't, my love. You, the almighty Zeus, doubted your own godly prowess."

Zeus chuckled, his arms wrapped around Hera's shoulders. "Forgive me, my love. I am overjoyed at the news."

Six months into the pregnancy, Hera underwent an ultrasound, revealing the baby's gender - a boy. She shared the news with Zeus, who joked, "A mama's boy, no doubt."

Hera feigned annoyance, throwing a pillow at Zeus. "Our son will be a formidable god, mark my words."

Zeus, still in high spirits, promised to teach their son the ways of a true god. Hera's divine power grew as the pregnancy progressed, causing minor tremors throughout the palace.

Zeus, intrigued, asked Hera if she required assistance. She met his question with a dismissive wave. "I can handle this pregnancy and the impending birth, my love. There is no need for you to worry."

On the eve of the birth, Hera retreated to the secluded birthing chamber, while Zeus anxiously awaited news. After a night of labor, Hera emerged from the chamber, cradling their newborn son, Jason.

Zeus, upon seeing the baby, was struck by Jason's piercing blue eyes and golden hair. He immediately fell in love with his son, his heart swelling with pride.

And so, the Royal Bedchamber of Hera, Queen of the Gods, became the birthplace of a new god, one who would grow up to be as strong, controlling, and direct as his mother.
