Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon, sat in her private chamber within her temple, her curly brown hair cascading down her shoulders in wild waves. She couldn’t help but scoff as she looked at the sleeping figure of Adonis, a man known for his irresistible charm and his betrayal with both Aphrodite and Persephone. How had she let herself stoop so low?
Adonis stirred, his piercing blue eyes meeting Artemis’ grey ones. “Still here, Artemis?” he said, a smug smile playing on his lips.
Rolling her eyes, she replied, “Yes, Adonis. I’m here for the same reason you are.”
Raising an eyebrow, he asked, “And what reason would that be, dear Artemis?”
Gritting her teeth, she spat out, “We both know why, Adonis. Let’s not pretend.”
Chuckling, he said, “Alright, if you insist. But I must say, for someone who hates me so much, you sure were wet down there.”
Artemis’ cheeks burned, but she retorted, “Fuck you, Adonis.”
His smile widened, “Language, Artemis.”
Despite her hatred for him, Artemis couldn’t help but moan as Adonis’ touches ignited a fire within her. She hated herself for it, but she couldn’t deny the pleasure he brought her. When they were finished, she pushed him away, “Get out of my sight.”
Unfazed, Adonis got dressed and left, a smug look on his face. Artemis, alone in her chamber, realized something was off. She had missed her monthly cycle. She groaned, “No, this can’t be happening.” She confirmed her suspicions; she was pregnant. Artemis, the goddess of hunt and moon, was going to be a mother. And to none other than Adonis, the man she hated with every fiber of her being.
How could she face the other gods and goddesses now? She was the symbol of chastity and independence. And now, she was carrying the child of a man who had betrayed not one, but two of her sisters. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of shame and disappointment in herself.
But as the days passed, Artemis began to accept her new reality. She would face the consequences of her actions, but she wouldn’t let it define her. She would raise her child as a strong and independent woman, just like she was. And as for Adonis, he would have no part in her child’s life.
As she sat in her chamber, she couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for her and her child. But one thing was for sure, she would face it head-on, just like she faced everything else in her life. She was Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon, and she wouldn’t let anyone or anything bring her down.
