Anton’s bedroom was a disaster, as usual. Clothes were strewn about, empty soda cans littered the floor, and a fine layer of dust coated every surface. But Anton didn’t seem to notice, or care. He was lying on his bed, scrolling through his phone, when he came across a strange app that claimed to be a hypnosis tool.
Anton chuckled to himself. “Sure, why not?” he thought. He clicked on the “Start” button, and the app’s soothing voice began to speak. “Relax,” it said. “Focus on the sound of my voice.”
Anton rolled his eyes, but found himself getting more and more relaxed as the voice continued to speak. It was like a warm blanket being draped over him, and he couldn’t help but sink deeper into it.
Suddenly, the door to his bedroom slammed open, and Lisan walked in. She was the most beautiful and popular girl in school, and she looked around in disgust at the messy room.
“What are you doing, fatty?” she taunted, crossing her arms.
Anton blushed, feeling embarrassed and angry. He wanted to snap back at her, but the hypnosis app’s voice was still in his head, telling him to imagine a warm, safe place. He closed his eyes and pictured a beach, with the sun shining down on him.
Lisan scoffed and walked closer to Anton, poking him in the belly. “Hey, are you even listening to me?” she asked.
Anton opened his eyes, feeling calm and collected. He looked up at Lisan and smiled. “Yes, I am,” he said.
Lisan raised an eyebrow, surprised by Anton’s sudden confidence. “Oh really?” she said, skeptically.
Anton nodded, sitting up in his bed. “Yes, I am,” he repeated. “And I think you’re very beautiful.”
Lisan burst out laughing, thinking Anton was joking. But when she saw the serious look on his face, she stopped.
“You think I’m beautiful?” she asked, incredulously.
Anton nodded.
“Well, I never took you for a smart guy, fatty,” Lisan said, with a playful insult. “But I guess there’s a first time for everything.”
Anton stood up, feeling taller and stronger. He walked over to Lisan and took her hand. “Would you like to go out with me, Lisan?” he asked.
Lisan looked at him, shocked. “Are you serious?” she asked.
Anton nodded.
Lisan hesitated for a moment, then smiled. “Yes,” she said. “I would like that.”
And just like that, the most popular girl in school was going out with the chubby, unpopular teenager. And it was all thanks to a strange hypnosis app.
Anton couldn’t believe it. He had never been so bold, so confident before. But the app’s voice was still in his head, telling him to relax, to focus on the present moment. And he was going to do just that.
He took Lisan’s hand and led her out of his messy bedroom, ready to face whatever the future held.
