Jane was lounging on the couch, engrossed in her favorite TV show. The house was quiet, save for the occasional pencil scratching from Sarah's room upstairs. It had been a long day, and Jane was looking forward to a peaceful evening.
But her solitude was short-lived. A strange noise from the basement caught her attention, a low, persistent hum that seemed to be getting louder. Jane frowned, debating whether or not to investigate. She was no stranger to the odd sounds that echoed through their old house, but something about this one made her uneasy.
With a sigh, Jane pushed herself off the couch and made her way to the basement door. She flipped on the light and descended the creaky stairs, the hum growing louder with each step. As she reached the bottom, she spotted a shadowy figure lurking in the corner.
Jane's heart leapt into her throat as she took in the horrifying sight before her. A facehugger, a creature from the "Alien" movies that she had always found fascinating yet terrifying, was perched on a shelf, its long, spindly tail twitching in anticipation.
Jane screamed and tried to run, but the facehugger was too fast. It launched itself at her, attaching itself to her face with a sickening crunch. Jane's screams turned to panicked gasps as she felt the creature's sharp, bony fingers digging into her skin.
Sarah, hearing her mother's screams, rushed to the basement. She took in the scene before her with wide eyes, her heart pounding in her chest. Without a moment's hesitation, she grabbed a nearby pipe and used it to pry the facehugger off her mother's face.
Jane collapsed onto the floor, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Sarah helped her to her feet, her eyes filled with concern. "Mom, are you okay?" she asked, her voice shaking.
Jane nodded, still trying to catch her breath. "I think so," she said, her voice strained. "Thanks to you."
Sarah smiled weakly, still in shock from what she had just witnessed. But her concern quickly turned to confusion as she noticed her mother's strange behavior. Jane was shifting uncomfortably, her face flushed.
"Mom, what's wrong?" Sarah asked, her brow furrowing.
Jane hesitated, not wanting to worry her daughter. But Sarah's insistent gaze forced her to admit the truth. "I think...I think the facehugger impregnated me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sarah's eyes widened in horror. "What?" she exclaimed. "But...how?"
Jane shrugged, her face twisting in pain. "I don't know," she said, her voice strained. "But I can feel it...inside me."
Sarah's heart sank as she watched her mother double over in pain. She didn't know what to do, how to help. But she knew she couldn't just stand there and watch her mother suffer.
"Mom, just breathe," Sarah said, her voice calm and soothing. "Push, like you're having a baby."
Jane nodded, gritting her teeth as another contraction hit her. She pushed, her face contorted in pain. Sarah watched in amazement as a small, slimy creature emerged from between her mother's legs.
Jane collapsed onto the couch, exhausted and relieved. Sarah stared at the creature, her mind racing. She had never seen anything like it before.
"What...what is it?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Jane shook her head, still trying to catch her breath. "I don't know," she said, her voice weak. "But it's alive."
Sarah nodded, still in shock. She didn't know what to do, how to process what had just happened. But she knew one thing for sure.
They were in this together.
