The sun blazed high in the sky, casting a haze over Tim and Lena's neighborhood as they searched for something to do on yet another boring summer day.
"I've got it!" Lena exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "We'll play a prank on Mr. Jenkins."
Tim raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "Mr. Jenkins? He's grumpy enough as it is. We don't want to make him any madder."
Lena scoffed. "Oh, come on. Where's your sense of adventure? It'll be hilarious."
Despite his hesitation, Tim couldn't help but be drawn in by Lena's enthusiasm. He followed her as she led him to Mr. Jenkins' house, a fake snake clutched in her hand.
Lena grinned as she placed the snake in the mailbox, Tim keeping watch. Just as they were about to make a run for it, Mr. Jenkins came outside, his eyes widening in terror at the sight of the snake.
Tim and Lena couldn't help but burst into laughter as they ran away, their giggles echoing through the neighborhood.
"You're such a scaredy-cat, Tim," Lena teased as they caught their breath.
Tim rolled his eyes. "And you're such a show-off, Lena. Putting the snake in the mailbox yourself."
Lena stuck her tongue out at him. "You're just mad that I got to see Mr. Jenkins' reaction up close."
Tim couldn't deny the truth in her words. He had been too chicken to stick around. But he wasn't about to let Lena have the last word.
"You're just lucky I didn't leave you to face Mr. Jenkins alone," he shot back.
Lena laughed. "Oh, please. I could've handled him. I'm not the one who's afraid of a little harmless prank."
Tim couldn't help but smile at Lena's playful banter. She was always so confident, so in control. It was one of the things he admired most about her.
As they made their way back to Lena's house, they continued to trade playful insults, their laughter filling the air.
Once they were safely away from Mr. Jenkins' house, Lena suggested they play another prank. Tim was hesitant, but Lena wasn't one to be defeated.
She challenged him to a water balloon fight, and Tim couldn't resist. They filled up balloons and had a playful fight, Lena getting the upper hand and soaking Tim.
Defeated and wet, Tim conceded that Lena was the better prankster.
Lena grinned, satisfied. "See, Tim? You can't always be a scaredy-cat. You have to learn to have a little fun."
Tim couldn't help but smile at Lena's words. She had a way of bringing out the best in him, of making him see things in a new light.
As they walked back to Lena's house, Tim couldn't wait to see what other adventures they would have together. The possibilities were endless, and he was excited to see where their mischief would take them.
