Island of Forbidden Flames

Island of Forbidden Flames

Chapter 1: The Heat of Envy

The Caribbean sun blazed down on the sandy shores of St. Elara, a paradise of turquoise waves and swaying palms. I, Ethan, stood alone on the balcony of our sprawling beach villa, the laughter of my high school buddies and their girlfriends echoing from the pool below. At nineteen, I was the odd one out—the only single guy in a group of eleven, surrounded by couples who couldn’t keep their hands off each other. A week into this so-called 'dream vacation,' and I was already simmering with frustration, my skin prickling not just from the heat but from raw, unspent desire.

I leaned against the railing, sipping a lukewarm beer, my eyes narrowing as I caught sight of Jake and his girlfriend, Mia, tangled up in a lounge chair. Her bikini top was barely holding on, and his hands were everywhere they shouldn’t be in public. I’d seen more than this, though. Last night, I’d crept down the hall, drawn by the muffled moans, and peeked through the crack in their door. The sight of Mia riding Jake, her toned body glistening with sweat, had burned itself into my brain. They all used condoms—I’d noticed the wrappers littering the villa like confetti. Safe, predictable, boring.

'Still playing the lone wolf, huh, Ethan?' A voice snapped me out of my brooding. It was Lila, Nate’s girlfriend, striding up to the balcony with a cocktail in hand. Her sun-kissed skin glowed against her red swimsuit, and her sharp green eyes pinned me with a knowing smirk. She was a firecracker, always quick with a jab, and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t fantasized about her.

'Just enjoying the view,' I shot back, my gaze flicking over her before returning to the pool. 'Seems like everyone else is too busy to notice it.'

She laughed, a low, throaty sound that sent a jolt straight through me. 'Oh, come on. Don’t tell me you’re not itching to get in on the action. I’ve seen the way you watch us.' She stepped closer, her hip brushing the railing beside me, her scent—coconut and something dangerously sweet—hitting me like a wave.

'Maybe I am,' I said, turning to face her, my voice dropping. 'But I don’t play by the same rules as your boyfriends. I don’t do safe. I don’t do tame.'

Her smirk widened, but there was a flicker of intrigue in her eyes. 'Big talk for a guy who’s been sulking all week. What makes you think you’ve got anything we’d want?' She tilted her head, challenging me, her lips curling like she already knew the answer.

I leaned in, close enough to feel the heat radiating off her skin. 'Because I’ve got what they don’t. Raw, unfiltered hunger. And I don’t need a damn wrapper to prove it.' My words hung between us, heavy with promise, and I saw her breath hitch, just for a split second.

'Careful, Ethan,' she warned, but her voice had an edge of excitement. 'You’re playing with fire. Nate might not like hearing his girl being propositioned.'

'Let him watch, then,' I countered, my grin feral. 'I’m not here to steal. I’m here to show. And trust me, Lila, once you see what I’ve got, you’ll be begging for a taste.'

She didn’t back down, her eyes locked on mine, a storm brewing behind them. The air crackled, thick with tension, and I could almost feel the damp heat of her skin under my fingertips. I knew I was crossing a line, but the ache in me was too strong, too primal. I wanted her—wanted all of them—one by one, until this island burned with the heat of my conquests.

We stood there, inches apart, the promise of something explosive simmering just beneath the surface. Her lips parted, and I knew she was about to say something—maybe to shut me down, maybe to dare me further—when a shout from the pool broke the spell. But the seed was planted. And as I watched her saunter back to Nate, her hips swaying with deliberate intent, I knew it was only a matter of time before I had her panting under me, dripping with need, while her boyfriend watched, helpless and horny, as I claimed what was his.
