Kyle slouched on his stained couch, the room filled with the musky scent of stale pizza and cheap beer. His friends, a motley crew of misfits, leered at the pornographic magazine spread across their laps.
"Come on, Kyle, live a little!" Brad, the ringleader, elbowed Kyle in the ribs. "You're twenty-five and still a virgin? What's wrong with you, man?"
Kyle's face burned with embarrassment. "I just haven't found the right girl yet," he mumbled.
Brad scoffed. "You're not gonna find her sitting here, that's for damn sure. How about we initiate your little brother, Ethan, into the world of women? He's a good-looking kid, and he's clueless as hell. It'll be like taking candy from a baby."
Kyle's heart sank. "No way, Brad. Ethan's innocent. He's not like us."
Brad's grin widened. "That's exactly why it'll be so easy. And so much fun."
The others chimed in, egging Brad on, until Kyle was outnumbered and outvoted. They devised a plan to lure Ethan to the apartment under the pretense of watching a "super cool" movie. Kyle tried to call off the whole thing, but his friends mocked him, calling him weak and pathetic.
Ethan arrived, his face bright with excitement. "What's the movie, guys?"
Brad clapped him on the back. "It's a surprise, Ethan. But I promise you, it's gonna be awesome."
As the movie began, Brad started making lewd comments, his eyes never leaving Ethan. Ethan shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to make a discreet exit. But Brad wasn't having it.
"Stay, Ethan. You're gonna love this."
Kyle watched in horror as Brad's advances became more and more aggressive. He tried to intervene, but Brad pushed him aside, sneering at Kyle's lack of masculinity.
Ethan, realizing what was happening, stood up for himself. "Back off, Brad. I'm not interested."
Brad's eyes gleamed with amusement. "Oh, you're interested all right. I can tell."
The others started making bets on who would be the first to "score" with Ethan. Kyle, filled with shame, didn't participate.
Ethan, not one to back down from a challenge, decided to play along. He started flirting and teasing Brad, much to the surprise of Kyle and the others. Brad, thinking he had the upper hand, fell for Ethan's act.
The chapter ended with Ethan leading Brad into the bedroom, leaving Kyle and the others in shock and awe. Kyle was left to contemplate the consequences of his actions and his own inadequacies.
As he sat alone in the dimly lit room, Kyle realized that he had let his friends manipulate him into betraying his own brother. He felt a surge of anger and disgust, not just at Brad and the others, but at himself as well.
He vowed to make things right, no matter what it took. He would protect Ethan, even if it meant standing up to his so-called friends.
The night of debauchery had begun, but for Kyle, it was also the beginning of a new chapter, one in which he would find his strength and his voice. And he would make sure that Ethan was never hurt again.
