Makenna lazed on her plush couch, mindlessly flipping through the glossy pages of a fashion magazine. She tried to focus on the latest trends and gossip, but a nagging feeling in her gut kept pulling her attention away.
The sound of laughter floated in from the backyard, and Makenna couldn't help but peek out the window. There, lounging by the pool, was her husband Josh and her best friend, Lisa. Makenna's heart clenched as she watched Lisa giggle and touch Josh's arm.
"Stop being ridiculous," Makenna scolded herself, shutting the magazine with a snap. But the feeling of jealousy lingered, gnawing at her insides.
With a determined sigh, Makenna decided to join them outside, hoping to shake off the green-eyed monster. As she stepped out onto the patio, Lisa greeted her with a warm smile. "Makenna, there you are! We were just talking about you."
Makenna raised an eyebrow, "Oh really? What were you saying?"
Lisa laughed, "Just how lucky Josh is to have such a great wife and friend like you."
Makenna couldn't help but feel a little better, but the jealousy still lingered. She decided to lighten the mood and playfully insulted Josh, "Hey Josh, you know Lisa is only friends with you because she feels bad for you, right?"
Josh feigned hurt, "Ouch, Makenna! That hurts."
Lisa jumped in, "Hey, I'm not that pitiful! I can make my own friends."
Makenna laughed, "I know, I'm just kidding. But seriously, Josh, you better treat Lisa right or I'll have to kick your ass."
Josh held up his hands in surrender, "I promise, I'll make sure to take good care of Lisa."
Makenna couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as she saw Lisa and Josh laughing together, but she pushed it aside and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with her friends. As the sun began to set, Lisa stood up and stretched. "I should get going, babe. Thanks for the invite, Josh."
Josh nodded, "Anytime. And Makenna, thanks for being such a great host."
Makenna smiled, "Of course. See you later, Lisa."
As Lisa walked away, Makenna couldn't shake the feeling of unease. She tried to push it aside, but the green-eyed monster was still there, lurking in the shadows.

Later that night, as Makenna lay in bed next to Josh, she couldn't help but feel restless. She tossed and turned, trying to find a comfortable position, but the feeling of jealousy kept her awake.
"What's wrong?" Josh asked, rolling over to face her.
Makenna sighed, "I can't help but feel jealous of Lisa and you. I know it's ridiculous, but I can't shake the feeling."
Josh pulled her close, "Makenna, you have nothing to be jealous of. I love you, and only you. Lisa is just a friend."
Makenna nodded, "I know. I just can't help the way I feel."
Josh kissed her forehead, "It's okay. I understand. But just know that you are the only one for me."
Makenna snuggled closer to him, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew she had nothing to worry about, but the green-eyed monster was a hard beast to tame.
As she drifted off to sleep, Makenna made a promise to herself. She would work on banishing the jealousy, and focus on the love and happiness she had with Josh. The green-eyed monster may have made an appearance, but it was up to Makenna to make sure it didn't stick around.
