The Imperial Bridal Suite was a vision of opulence, adorned with gold and jewel-toned silks. But the young woman within, Audrey, barely noticed the luxurious surroundings. Her heart pounded in her chest as she awaited her new husband, Dante. She had been told he was a handsome man, but that meant little to her. Her family had arranged this marriage, and Audrey couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread as she thought of the abuse she had suffered at their hands.
The door to the bridal suite creaked open, and Audrey tensed. She turned to see a tall, striking figure enter the room. Dante. His white hair gleamed under the candlelight, and his blue eyes seemed to pierce her very soul. As he approached her, Audrey couldn’t help but feel a flicker of hope. Perhaps he would be different from the rest of her family.
“Empress Audrey,” Dante greeted, bowing low. His voice was deep and resonant, sending shivers down Audrey’s spine.
“Lord Dante,” Audrey replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
As they began to undress for their wedding night, Dante noticed whip marks on Audrey’s back and a faded outline of a handprint around her neck. His eyes narrowed, and he felt a surge of anger and concern.
“What are these marks?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.
Audrey tried to brush it off as nothing, but Dante insisted that it didn’t seem like nothing. He gently touched the marks, and Audrey flinched.
“Who did this to you?” Dante demanded, his voice lacking every bit of control.
Audrey hesitated, then whispered, “It’s nothing. Just a little...play.”
Dante’s eyes narrowed. “Play? With a whip?”
Audrey rolled her eyes. “Not that kind of play, you savage. I mean...with my stepsister. She’s always been...rough with me.”
Dante’s anger grew. “And the handprint?”
Audrey looked away. “My stepbrother...he has a certain...appetite.”
Dante’s jaw clenched. “I will kill them.”
Audrey laughed, a brittle sound. “You can’t. They’re my family.”
Dante’s voice was cold. “They’re not your family. Not anymore.”
Audrey looked up at him, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. “What are you saying?”
Dante took her hand. “I’m saying that I will protect you. From now on, you are my family.”
Audrey’s eyes filled with tears. “Thank you,” she whispered.
Dante pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her. He could feel her heart racing, and he knew that she was still frightened. But he would show her that she was safe with him.
“You have nothing to fear from me, Audrey,” he murmured, his lips brushing against her ear. “I will never hurt you.”
Audrey looked up at him, her eyes shining. “I believe you,” she whispered.
Dante’s gaze softened, and he leaned down to capture her lips in a gentle kiss. As they deepened the kiss, Audrey felt a surge of desire. She had never felt this safe, this wanted, before.
As they continued to explore each other’s bodies, Dante couldn’t help but feel a surge of protectiveness towards Audrey. He would show her that not all men were like her family. He would give her the life she deserved.
And Audrey, for the first time in her life, felt truly loved and cherished. She knew that Dante would protect her, and she gave herself over to the passion that consumed them both.
As they lay tangled in the sheets, panting and sweating, Audrey couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. She was safe, she was loved, and she was finally free from the abuse of her family.
From now on, she was Dante’s. And he was hers.
