Midnight Whispers

Midnight Whispers

Chapter 1: Under the Covers

The dormitory was a tomb of silence at 2 a.m., save for the occasional rustle of sheets or a distant snore. Kaiyuan lay on the top bunk, scrolling through his phone, the blue light casting sharp shadows across his chiseled jaw. Below him, Lijia—known to everyone as 'Little Head' for reasons that had nothing to do with his intellect—shifted restlessly. The air was thick with unspoken tension, a current that had been building between them for months.

'Kai,' Lijia’s voice cut through the dark, low and hesitant, almost a whisper. 'You awake?'

Kaiyuan smirked, setting his phone aside. 'No, I’m sleep-talking. What’s up, Little Head? Can’t sleep without your teddy bear?'

Lijia snorted, but there was a nervous edge to it. 'Funny. Real funny. Just… feeling a bit off tonight. Lonely, I guess. You mind coming down for a bit? Keep me company?'

Kaiyuan raised an eyebrow, though Lijia couldn’t see it in the dim light. He knew that tone—soft, suggestive, a quiet plea wrapped in casual words. 'Company, huh? You want me to read you a bedtime story, or is there something else on your mind?'

Lijia shifted again, the creak of the bedframe betraying his unease. 'Don’t make me spell it out, man. Just… come down. Please.'

There it was—the crack in Lijia’s usually composed facade. Kaiyuan didn’t need to hear more. He swung his legs over the edge of the bunk and dropped down with a quiet thud, careful not to wake their sleeping roommates. He slid onto Lijia’s bed, the narrow mattress dipping under their combined weight. The heat of their bodies was immediate, electric, even through the thin barrier of their clothes.

'So, Little Head,' Kaiyuan teased, his voice a low growl as he propped himself on an elbow, looking down at Lijia’s shadowed face. 'What kind of company are we talking about? The kind where we chat about the weather, or the kind where I make you forget you’re lonely?'

Lijia’s breath hitched, his eyes glinting with a mix of nerves and want. 'You’re such a bastard,' he muttered, but there was no venom in it. 'You know what I mean. Just… be discreet, alright? I don’t need the whole dorm knowing my business.'

Kaiyuan chuckled, leaning closer, his lips brushing Lijia’s ear. 'Oh, I can be discreet. Question is, can you keep quiet when I’m working my magic?'

Lijia’s face flushed, but he didn’t back down. 'Try me. I’m not some fragile flower, Kai. I just… need this. Badly.'

That was all the invitation Kaiyuan needed. With a sly grin, he tugged the blanket over them, creating a cocoon of heat and secrecy. The air beneath the covers was already heavy, charged with anticipation. Kaiyuan’s hand slid down Lijia’s chest, feeling the rapid thrum of his heartbeat, before dipping lower. Lijia tensed, but his eyes were fierce, daring Kaiyuan to keep going.

'Relax, Little Head,' Kaiyuan murmured, his voice dripping with mischief. 'I’ve got you. Just don’t wake the whole damn room when you lose it.'

Lijia bit his lip, a sharp retort on his tongue, but it melted into a stifled gasp as Kaiyuan’s fingers found their mark. The darkness under the blanket hid their movements, but not the heat, not the way Lijia’s body arched ever so slightly, hungry for more. Kaiyuan’s own pulse raced, his breath hot against Lijia’s neck as he leaned in, ready to take things further—much further.

And as the night deepened, so did their secret, a forbidden dance of need and desire, hidden beneath the covers where no one else could see.
