Sarah's heels clicked against the hardwood floor as she made her way down the hallway, a slight frown etched onto her face. She had a million things on her mind, and her son, Jake, was at the top of that list. She pushed open his bedroom door without knocking, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of him.
But what she found instead was Jake, sprawled out on his bed, with his girlfriend, Lily, straddled on top of him. Both of them looked up at her, startled, their faces flushed with embarrassment.
Sarah took a deep breath, trying to keep her composure. "Well, well, well, looks like someone's been busy," she said, her voice laced with playful sarcasm. "Next time, use a lock, will you?"
Jake stuttered an apology, his eyes darting back and forth between his mother and his girlfriend. Lily, for her part, tried to cover herself, her cheeks burning with shame.
But Sarah wasn't one to be deterred. She took a seat on the edge of the bed, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Don't worry, dear. You're welcome to stay. I'm not a prude, you know."
Lily looked at Jake for confirmation, and he nodded, still red-faced. Sarah leaned back, her arms folded across her chest. "Carry on, then. I won't disturb you."
Jake and Lily, both shocked, hesitantly continued their intimate moment, with Sarah watching with a mix of amusement and curiosity. Sarah couldn't help but notice how confident and self-assured Lily seemed, even in this awkward situation.
After a few minutes, Sarah spoke up again. "You know, you could learn a thing or two from this young lady," she said, nodding towards Lily. "You're not as bad as I thought, Lily."
Lily giggled, her eyes meeting Sarah's. "Well, I do have some experience."
Sarah's interest was piqued. "Oh really?" she said. "Do tell."
And so, Lily did. She told them about her past relationships, about the things she had learned and the mistakes she had made. Sarah listened intently, impressed by Lily's maturity and intelligence.
As the conversation continued, Sarah found herself offering Lily a job at her company. She saw something in Lily, a spark that she knew would be an asset to her business. Jake and Lily were both surprised, but after some consideration, Lily accepted the offer.
They discussed her starting date and responsibilities, Sarah's mind already racing with ideas for how to utilize Lily's talents. As the conversation wound down, Sarah got up from the bed, her mind made up.
"I'll let you two get back to it," she said, winking at Lily. "See you at work, dear."
And with that, she left the room, a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She had a feeling that this was the start of something great.
