Mom's Forbidden Game: A Risky Affair

### Chapter 1: The Velvet Gambit

The air in the dimly lit lounge of the Crimson Orchid was thick with the scent of bourbon and forbidden promises. Scarlet chandeliers cast a sultry glow over the velvet-lined walls, and the low hum of jazz slithered through the room like a lover's whisper. At the center of it all sat Vivienne Blackwood, a woman who could command a room with a single glance. Her raven hair cascaded over one shoulder, framing a face that was equal parts danger and desire. Her crimson dress clung to her curves like a second skin, and the slit up her thigh was a deliberate invitation—or a warning.

Vivienne sipped her martini, the olive twirling lazily on its toothpick, as her emerald eyes scanned the room. She wasn’t here for pleasure, though she’d never turn down a worthy distraction. No, tonight was business. A game of power, seduction, and secrets. And she always played to win.

At the bar, a man in a tailored charcoal suit caught her eye. He was tall, with a jawline sharp enough to cut glass and eyes that held a storm of mischief. He nursed a whiskey, pretending not to notice her, but Vivienne knew better. She could feel the weight of his gaze, even when he thought he was being subtle.

“Amateur,” she muttered under her breath, a smirk curling her lips. Setting her glass down with a deliberate clink, she rose from her seat, her heels clicking against the polished floor like a predator’s prowl. She approached the bar, sliding onto the stool next to him with the grace of a panther.

“Whiskey neat,” she ordered, her voice a low, velvety purr that could unravel a man’s resolve. The bartender nodded and scurried off, leaving her to turn her attention to her prey. “You’ve been staring for the past ten minutes, darling. If you’ve got something to say, spit it out. I don’t have all night.”

The man turned to her, a slow, crooked grin spreading across his face. “Caught me, did you? I thought I was being discreet.”

“Discreet?” Vivienne arched a perfectly sculpted brow, her tone dripping with mockery. “Sweetheart, a blind man could feel the heat coming off you. What’s your name, or should I just call you ‘Obvious’?”

He chuckled, the sound rich and warm, and extended a hand. “Ethan. Ethan Cross. And I suppose I should call you ‘Trouble,’ because that’s exactly what you look like.”

She ignored his hand, instead leaning closer, her lips hovering just a breath from his ear. “Oh, Ethan, you have no idea. Trouble is my middle name, and I wear it like a crown. But let’s not play coy. What do you want? Because I don’t waste my time on men who can’t keep up.”

Ethan’s grin didn’t falter, though a flicker of something—respect, perhaps—flashed in his eyes. “Straight to the point. I like that. I’m here on business, actually. Word is, you’re the woman to talk to if I need… let’s call it a unique arrangement.”

Vivienne leaned back, crossing her legs with deliberate slowness, letting the slit of her dress reveal just enough to keep him on edge. “Is that so? And what makes you think I’m interested in your little ‘arrangement’? I don’t do favors, Ethan. I do deals. And my price is never cheap.”

His gaze dipped to her exposed thigh for just a fraction of a second before snapping back to her eyes. “I wouldn’t dream of insulting you with anything less than what you’re worth. I’ve heard about you, Vivienne. They say you can make a man’s wildest dreams come true—or his worst nightmares. I’m betting on the former.”

She laughed, a throaty sound that sent a shiver down his spine. “Flattery will get you nowhere, darling, but I appreciate the effort. Tell me, what’s this arrangement of yours? And don’t bore me with the details. I’m not in the mood for a bedtime story.”

Ethan leaned in, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “I need access to a certain… event. A private auction, invitation-only. Rumor has it, you’ve got the key to every locked door in this city.”

Vivienne’s smile was sharp, dangerous. “Oh, I’ve got more than keys, Ethan. I’ve got the whole damn kingdom. But why should I let you in? What’s in it for me? And don’t say money. I’ve got plenty of that.”

His eyes gleamed with challenge. “How about a game, then? I’ve got information you might find… stimulating. Secrets about a certain rival of yours. Play your cards right, and I’ll lay it all bare for you.”

She tilted her head, studying him like a cat deciding whether to pounce or toy with its prey a little longer. “A game, hmm? I like games, Ethan. But I play to win. And I don’t play fair. Still think you can keep up?”

“Try me,” he shot back, his voice laced with a dare. “I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve, and I’m not afraid to get a little dirty.”

Vivienne’s lips curled into a wicked smile as she picked up her martini glass, taking a slow sip without breaking eye contact. “Oh, darling, dirty is my favorite way to play. But be warned—if you cross me, I don’t just bite. I devour.”

Ethan’s grin widened, undeterred. “I’ll take my chances. So, do we have a deal, or are you going to keep teasing me all night?”

She set her glass down, her fingers brushing against his hand just long enough to send a jolt through him. “Patience, Ethan. I don’t seal deals on the first date. Meet me tomorrow night, same place, same time. Bring your secrets… and maybe a little more of that charm. We’ll see if you’re worth my time.”

Rising from her stool, she gave him one last lingering look, her eyes promising both danger and delight. “Don’t be late, darling. I hate waiting.”

As she walked away, her hips swaying with every step, Ethan watched her go, a mix of admiration and anticipation burning in his chest. He knew he was stepping into a lion’s den, but damn if he didn’t want to feel her claws.

Vivienne, meanwhile, smirked to herself as she exited the lounge. Ethan Cross was intriguing, she’d give him that. But she’d been playing this game far longer than he had. And if he thought he could outmaneuver her, he was in for a very rude awakening. She wasn’t just the queen of this chessboard—she was the entire game.

The night was young, and Vivienne Blackwood was just getting started.
