As I crouched by the hole in the fence, I couldn’t help but let my eyes wander to the tantalizing sight before me. Ramesh, our neighbor, was out in his yard gardening without a shirt on, his muscular back glistening with sweat as he dug into the dirt. I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I watched him, my heart pounding in my chest.
But alas, my mother’s voice cut through the air, calling out to me from inside the house. “Ash! Can you come help me with something?”
I sighed, reluctantly tearing my gaze away from Ramesh and making my way back towards the house. I found Ma in the kitchen, a frown on her face. “We’re out of sugar,” she said. “Can you go over to Ramesh’s house and borrow some?”
I rolled my eyes, but knew better than to argue. Ma had a way of getting what she wanted, and I didn’t feel like dealing with her wrath. I grabbed a bowl and made my way over to Ramesh’s house, my heart still racing from my earlier peeping.
As I approached the house, I couldn’t help but glance through the window and see if Ramesh was still outside. But what I saw instead made my stomach drop. There, on the couch, was Ma and Ramesh, tangled up in a compromising position.
I felt a mix of shock, disgust, and intrigue as I watched them. I shouldn’t have been watching, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away. I felt a strange heat pool in my stomach as I watched them, my breath hitching in my throat.
Before I knew it, my friend Zeeshan was by my side, a smirk on his face. “What are you looking at?” he asked, a playful glint in his eye.
I couldn’t help but blush, my cheeks burning as I turned to him. “Nothing,” I said, trying to sound nonchalant.
But Zeeshan wasn’t fooled. He peered through the window and let out a low whistle. “Looks like your mom has a thing for the neighbor,” he said, a grin spreading across his face.
I couldn’t help but laugh, despite the situation. Zeeshan had a way of making even the most uncomfortable situations bearable. “At least she has good taste,” I said, trying to make a joke.
Zeeshan chuckled and we continued to watch as Ma and Ramesh continued their affair. We made crude comments and jokes, trying to lighten the mood. But deep down, I couldn’t shake the strange attraction I felt towards Ramesh.
Finally, Ma and Ramesh finished and got dressed, oblivious to the fact that they had an audience. Zeeshan and I quickly ran away before we were caught, our hearts pounding in our chests.
As I made my way back home, I couldn’t stop thinking about what I had just seen. I felt a mix of emotions, anger, hurt, and curiosity. I confronted Ma about it as soon as I got home, and she was surprised, but eventually admitted to the affair.
I was angry, hurt, and confused. But I couldn’t deny the strange attraction I felt towards Ramesh. I asked Ma about it, and she told me it was just a physical attraction and nothing more.
I was disappointed, but also relieved. I didn’t want to think about my mother and Ramesh in that way. But I couldn’t shake the thoughts of Ramesh from my mind as I went to bed that night.
