The bathroom door creaked open, revealing a scene that would make any reasonable person’s heart race. Ms. J, Lake’s stern yet attractive teacher, stood in the doorway, her eyes widening at the sight before her. Lake, her star pupil, was lying motionless on the cold bathroom tiles, a pill bottle next to her.
Ms. J’s mind raced as she rushed to Lake’s side, her fingers trembling as she searched for a pulse. She let out a sigh of relief as she felt a faint flutter against her fingertips. Lake’s eyes fluttered open, a small smirk playing on her lips.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t my favorite teacher,” Lake said, her voice raspy from the drugs she had taken.
Ms. J couldn’t help but roll her eyes, a mix of relief and annoyance washing over her. “Don’t you ever scare me like that again, young lady,” she scolded, helping Lake sit up.
Lake’s eyes scanned the room, taking in the worried expression on Ms. J’s face. “Oh, don’t look so concerned. I was just putting on a show for my dear brother,” she said, a mischievous glint in her eye.
Ms. J raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. “And why would you do that?” she asked, her tone laced with skepticism.
Lake shrugged, a small smile playing on her lips. “He’s always been the favorite, you know? I figured if I pretended to off myself, he’d finally realize how much he cares about me,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Ms. J couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head at Lake’s antics. “You’re something else, Lake. Something else,” she said, helping Lake to her feet.
Lake wobbled slightly, her head spinning from the drugs she’s taken. “Whoa, easy there,” Ms. J said, wrapping an arm around Lake’s waist.
Lake leaned into Ms. J, her head resting on the teacher’s shoulder. “Thanks, Ms. J,” she murmured, her eyes heavy.
Ms. J guided Lake to her bed, tucking her in gently. “You need to rest, Lake. And we need to have a serious talk about your little stunt,” she said, her voice firm but gentle.
Lake nodded, her eyes closing. “I know, Ms. J. I’m sorry,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ms. J smiled, smoothing Lake’s hair back. “I’m not mad, Lake. Just worried about you. You’re a strong, smart girl. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you’re not,” she said, her voice filled with warmth.
Lake’s eyes fluttered open, a small smile playing on her lips. “Thanks, Ms. J. You’re not so bad yourself,” she said, her voice filled with gratitude.
Ms. J laughed, her heart swelling with affection for her troubled student. “I’ll take that as a compliment, Lake. Now, get some rest,” she said, turning off the light and leaving the room.
As Ms. J closed the door behind her, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. Lake was a strong, intelligent young woman, but she was clearly going through a tough time. Ms. J made a mental note to keep a closer eye on her, to make sure she was okay.
Little did she know, this was only the beginning of Lake’s story. There were darker, more twisted secrets hidden beneath the surface, waiting to be uncovered. But for now, Lake needed rest, and Ms. J was determined to be there for her, no matter what.
