Neighborly Desires

Neighborly Desires

**Chapter 1: The Unexpected Invitation**

I knocked on Dale’s door, a wrench in mind and a quick errand on my agenda. The sun was high, the suburban street quiet, except for the distant hum of a lawnmower. I expected Dale, gruff and grizzled, to answer with his usual half-grunt, half-greeting. Instead, the door swung open, and there stood Marissa, his wife, draped in a silk nightie that clung to her curves like a second skin. The deep violet fabric barely covered her thighs, and the neckline plunged daringly, hinting at the swell of her breasts with every breath she took.

“Well, damn, Jake,” she purred, leaning against the doorframe, her voice a sultry drawl. “Didn’t expect to see you on my doorstep looking all... handy.” Her eyes flicked to the empty toolbox in my hand, then back to my face, a smirk playing on her lips.

I cleared my throat, trying to keep my gaze above her collarbone. “Uh, hey, Marissa. I just needed to borrow a tool from Dale. Is he around?”

She laughed, a low, throaty sound that sent a jolt straight through me. “Dale’s off swinging clubs with his golf buddies. Won’t be back for hours.” She stepped aside, gesturing inside with a sweep of her manicured hand. “But come on in. I’m sure I’ve got something you can... work with.”

I hesitated, my better judgment screaming to turn around. But the way her nightie shifted as she moved, revealing just a sliver more of her smooth, tanned skin, made my feet move before my brain could catch up. I stepped into the cool air of their living room, the scent of her jasmine perfume wrapping around me like a trap.

“Nice place,” I muttered, trying to fill the silence as she closed the door behind me with a deliberate click. My eyes darted around, avoiding the way she sauntered closer, her hips swaying with every step.

“Oh, cut the small talk, Jake,” she said, her tone sharp but dripping with mischief. “You didn’t come over here to admire my decor. And I’m not dressed like this for my health.” She stopped inches from me, her fingers brushing against the hem of her nightie, tugging it down just enough to expose more of her cleavage. “So, tell me, what kind of tool are you really looking for?”

I swallowed hard, my mouth dry as hell. “Marissa, I don’t think—”

“Think?” she interrupted, her voice cutting like a blade, but her eyes were all heat and challenge. “I’m not asking you to think, neighbor. I’m asking if you’ve got the guts to handle what’s right in front of you.” She stepped closer, her breath hot against my ear as she whispered, “Because I’m bored, Jake. And I’m betting you’re a hell of a lot more fun than a wrench.”

My pulse hammered in my chest, every nerve on edge as her hand slid up my arm, her touch electric. I should’ve backed off, made an excuse, but the fire in her gaze pinned me in place. She wasn’t some damsel waiting to be swept off her feet—she was a predator, and I was dangerously close to being her prey.

“Marissa, this is a bad idea,” I managed, my voice rough, but my body was already betraying me, heat pooling low in my gut.

“Bad ideas are the best kind,” she shot back, her lips curling into a wicked grin. She pressed herself against me, her curves molding to my frame, and I could feel the warmth of her through the thin silk. “Don’t tell me you’re not curious. I can see it in your eyes—you want to know how wet I am right now, don’t you?”

Her words hit like a punch, raw and unapologetic, and I couldn’t deny the way my body reacted, growing hard against the seam of my jeans. She noticed, her gaze dropping with a triumphant smirk. “Thought so,” she murmured, her hand sliding down to my waist, fingers teasing at the edge of my belt. “Let’s stop pretending and get to the good part.”

Before I could protest—if I even wanted to—she yanked me closer, her lips crashing into mine with a hunger that stole my breath. Her tongue demanded entry, and I gave in, tasting the heat of her as her hands roamed, bold and unyielding. We stumbled back toward the couch, the air between us crackling with raw, unspoken need, and I knew there was no turning back from whatever inferno we were about to ignite.
