Nerevar's Naughty New Slave

### Chapter One: A Smack of Ownership

The cavernous hall of Nerevar’s underground stronghold was a place of shadows and whispers, its ancient stone carvings illuminated by the unsteady flicker of torches. The air hung heavy with the scent of damp earth and iron, a fitting stage for the drama about to unfold. Nerevar, the warlord whose name was both a curse and a legend in these forsaken lands, strode through the arched entrance with the swagger of a man who owned the very ground beneath his boots. His dark leather armor clung to his broad frame, scuffed and scarred from countless battles, and his crooked grin promised trouble. Behind him, bound by enchanted chains that shimmered with a faint, mocking glow, walked Kaelira—a woman whose presence seemed to command the very shadows to stand at attention.

Her raven-black hair spilled over her shoulders, wild and untamed, framing a face that was all sharp angles and burning amber eyes. Even in captivity, she carried herself like a queen, her chin tilted defiantly, her every step a silent challenge. The chains clinked softly with each movement, a taunting reminder of her predicament, yet they did little to diminish the raw power that radiated from her. Nerevar’s band of roughneck followers, a motley crew of scarred mercenaries and grizzled outlaws, lounged in the dimly lit corners of the hall. Their leers and jeers echoed off the stone walls as they sized up the new arrival, their crude laughter a jagged edge in the tense atmosphere.

“Well, well, lads,” Nerevar bellowed, his voice a low rumble that filled the cavern like thunder. He spread his arms wide, as if presenting a prized trophy. “Feast your eyes on my latest conquest. Kaelira, the hellcat of the Crimson Peaks, now tamed and brought to heel by yours truly.”

Kaelira’s eyes narrowed to slits, her gaze slicing through him like a blade. “Tamed?” she spat, her voice a dangerous purr, laced with venom and dark amusement. “You’ve got a vivid imagination, warlord. I’m no more tamed than a storm is caged by a cracked window. Keep dreaming, though—it suits you.”

A ripple of laughter rolled through the hall, though it was quickly stifled under Nerevar’s sharp glare. He turned to her, his grin widening, unfazed by her barb. “Oh, sweetheart, I’ve got dreams aplenty, and you’re the star of every damn one. But let’s make one thing clear to everyone here.” Without warning, he stepped closer, his hand flashing out to deliver a resounding smack to her backside. The sound echoed through the hall, sharp and deliberate, a claim staked in front of his men.

The room fell silent, the tension so thick it could choke a man. Nerevar’s followers froze, waiting for the fallout, while his smirk dared her to react. Kaelira didn’t flinch, didn’t gasp—her composure was ironclad. Instead, she turned her head slowly, her amber eyes locking onto his with a heat that could melt steel. A slow, dangerous smile curled her lips, and when she spoke, her voice was a silken blade, cutting straight to the bone.

“Did that make you feel powerful, Nerevar?” she drawled, her tone dripping with mockery. “Because from where I’m standing, it just looks like you’re compensating for something. Care to prove me wrong, or are you all slap and no substance?”

The hall erupted in stifled snickers, a few of Nerevar’s men choking on their own spit as they tried to contain their amusement. Nerevar threw back his head and laughed, a deep, guttural sound that reverberated off the walls. “By the gods, woman, you’ve got a tongue sharper than my best blade. I think I’m half in love already.”

“Save your sweet nothings,” Kaelira shot back, her smile never wavering, though her eyes burned with defiance. “I’m not here to be your darling or your decoration. You want to play games? Fine. But I warn you, I play to win—and I don’t lose.”

Nerevar stepped closer, the space between them crackling with unspoken challenge. He towered over her, but she didn’t so much as blink, meeting his gaze with a ferocity that sent a thrill down his spine. “Oh, I’m counting on it, hellcat,” he murmured, his voice dropping to a rough whisper meant just for her. “I’ve broken stronger spirits than yours, but I’ve never had one half as fun to toy with. You’re gonna be a challenge, aren’t you?”

Kaelira tilted her head, her smile turning wicked. “Toy with me at your peril, warlord. These chains might hold my wrists, but they don’t hold my will. Keep pushing, and you’ll find out just how much trouble I can be. Or are you afraid you can’t handle a real fight?”

His eyes gleamed with something dangerous, a mix of admiration and raw desire. “Afraid? Darlin’, I live for the fight. And trust me, I’m gonna enjoy every second of breaking you down—piece by fiery piece.”

“Break me?” she scoffed, stepping as close as her chains would allow, her voice a low, taunting hiss. “You’ll be on your knees begging for mercy before I’m through with you. And I’ll make damn sure you enjoy every humiliating second of it.”

The air between them sizzled, their words a dance of blades and promises, each jab laced with a heat that neither could ignore. Nerevar’s men watched from the shadows, their crude jests forgotten in the face of this battle of wills. Kaelira’s defiance was a living thing, a flame that refused to be snuffed, and Nerevar—cocky, arrogant Nerevar—found himself captivated by the challenge she posed. He could have her dragged to a cell, could silence her with force, but where was the fun in that? No, he wanted to spar with her, to see just how far she’d push before one of them snapped.

“Take her to the eastern chamber,” he finally barked to his men, though his eyes never left hers. “Make sure she’s comfortable. We wouldn’t want our guest to think we’re inhospitable, now would we?”

Kaelira arched a brow, her smirk cutting. “Hospitality? Is that what you call slapping a woman in front of your rabble? Charming. I’ll remember that when I’m carving my name into your pride.”

As two of Nerevar’s men stepped forward to lead her away, she cast one last glance over her shoulder, her gaze a promise of retribution—and something else, something hotter, more dangerous. Nerevar watched her go, his grin never faltering, though his heart pounded with a mix of anticipation and something he wasn’t ready to name. This wasn’t just a captive he’d brought into his stronghold. This was a storm in human form, and he was damn well going to ride it out, no matter where it led.

The hall buzzed with murmurs as Kaelira disappeared into the shadows, the enchanted chains glinting like a taunt. Nerevar turned to his men, his voice a low growl. “Show’s over, you sorry lot. Get back to work before I decide to make an example of someone.”

But as he stalked toward his own quarters, his thoughts lingered on the hellcat now under his roof. Kaelira wasn’t just a prize or a challenge—she was a wildfire, and he was already itching to get burned.
