The throne room of Zeus was abuzz with activity as the gods filtered in, their laughter and playful banter filling the air. Hera, the queen of the gods, entered with a sly smile, her eyes immediately seeking out Hephaestus, the god of fire and the forge.
"Hephaestus, my dear," Hera called out, her voice dripping with false sweetness. "How is that lame leg of yours holding up?"
Hephaestus, ever the joker, chuckled and retorted, "Well, Hera, it's been bothering me less than your constant nagging."
The gods roared with laughter, the tension in the room dissipating as Zeus, the king of the gods, called the meeting to order. His deep voice echoed through the hall, quieting the room.
"My fellow gods and goddesses," Zeus began. "We have received an intriguing report of a mortal who has created a magical chocolate that can induce various sensations and effects."
Poseidon, the god of the sea, raised an eyebrow, his skepticism clear. "A mortal creating something of power? I find that hard to believe."
Aphrodite, the goddess of love, perked up, her interest piqued. "A creation of pleasure and desire? I must know more."
Apollo, the god of the sun, and Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, shared a look, both thinking of the potential of such a creation.
Zeus summoned Noodle, the mortal in question, to appear before them. Noodle, an African-American woman with a large Afro, confidently strode into the room, a tray of chocolates in her hand.
"Greetings, gods and goddesses," Noodle said, her voice steady and strong. She offered a champagne truffle to Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
Athena took a bite and was immediately transported to a night out on the town, complete with music and dancing. The gods were impressed and intrigued. Noodle explained that each chocolate had a different effect, from boosting confidence to growing hair.
Ares, the god of war, challenged Noodle, insinuating that her chocolates were a mere parlor trick. Noodle smiled and took a chocolate from the tray, popping it into her mouth.
Ares watched in amazement as Noodle grew to six feet tall, her posture straightening and her voice booming with newfound confidence. "Impressive, mortal," Ares conceded.
Noodle offered a chocolate to Dionysus, the god of wine and parties. Dionysus eagerly took a bite and was soon dancing and singing, much to the amusement of the other gods.
Hermes, the god of trade and messengers, saw the potential in Noodle's chocolates and offered to help her distribute them to the mortal world. Noodle agreed, but on her terms. She would not let the chocolates fall into the wrong hands and would only sell them for one sovereign each.
Hera, impressed by Noodle's strength and directness, offered her a place among the gods. Noodle declined, stating that she preferred the freedom of being a mortal.
Zeus, amused and intrigued by Noodle's audacity, dismissed the meeting. The gods, one by one, left the throne room, each taking a chocolate from Noodle's tray.
Noodle, confident and in control, left Mount Olympus, knowing that she had made an impression on the gods. As she exited the throne room, Noodle turned to Hephaestus and threw a playful insult his way, leaving the god of fire chuckling in her wake.
"Until next time, Hephaestus," Noodle said with a wink. "May your forge never grow cold."
Hephaestus laughed, his admiration for Noodle clear. "Farewell, Noodle. I look forward to our next encounter."
And with that, Noodle left Mount Olympus, her chocolates and her reputation as a formidable mortal preceding her.
