Suddenly, a deep, rumbling chuckle echoed through the clearing, causing the elf boy’s fingers to slip on the flute. He looked up, startled, to see a towering orc woman looming over him, her arms crossed and a wicked grin on her face.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?” Gunda boomed, her voice echoing through the trees. “A little snack, perhaps?”
Luthien’s eyes widened in fear as he stuttered out a weak protest. “I-I’m not a snack! I’m an elf! I-I play the flute!”
Gunda’s grin widened as she pretended to consider his words, tapping her chin thoughtfully. “Hmm, a flute-playing elf, you say? Well, I do love a good musical performance.”
She leaned even closer, her hot breath on Luthien’s face as she whispered, “But I must warn you, I have very particular tastes.”
Luthien’s heart raced as he felt Gunda’s teeth touch his flesh, but instead of biting down, Gunda burst out in laughter once more.
“You should have seen your face!” she cackled, stepping back and wiping tears from her eyes.
Luthien’s fear turned to anger as he glared up at Gunda, his hands balled into fists. “You’re a bully, Gunda!”
Gunda’s grin softened as she looked down at Luthien, her expression becoming more serious. “Perhaps I am,” she admitted. “But you must admit, that was quite amusing.”
Luthien’s anger faded as he realized that Gunda was right, and he couldn’t help but crack a smile. “You’re impossible, Gunda,” he said, shaking his head.
Gunda grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief once more. “And you’re too easy to tease, little elf,” she said, ruffling his hair before turning and disappearing into the forest.
Luthien watched her go, a smile still on his face as he picked up his flute once more. He began to play again, the melody softer now, but still tinged with a hint of laughter.
As he played, Luthien couldn’t help but think about the towering orc woman who had just pranked him. He had to admit, it was pretty funny. And even though she had scared him, there was something about Gunda that he found intriguing.
He had never met an orc like her before – one who could be so fierce and intimidating, yet also so playful and mischievous. Luthien found himself wanting to know more about her, to understand what made her tick.
He knew that Gunda was a warrior, one of the strongest and most feared in the land. But there was more to her than just brute strength. She had a quick wit and a sharp tongue, and she wasn’t afraid to use them.
Luthien couldn’t help but feel drawn to Gunda, despite himself. He knew that she was dangerous, that she could crush him with a single blow. But there was something about her that he found irresistible.
He played his flute louder now, the melody filled with longing and desire. He knew that Gunda was out there, listening to him, watching him. And he couldn’t help but hope that she would come back, that he would have a chance to see her again.
As the last notes of the melody faded away, Luthien held his breath, waiting for Gunda to appear. But the forest remained still, and he was left alone with his thoughts.
He sighed, setting down his flute and standing up from the mossy log. He knew that he would probably never see Gunda again, that she was just a figment of his imagination.
But even as he walked away from the clearing, he couldn’t help but hope that he was wrong. That he would see Gunda again, and that they would have a chance to explore the connection that he felt between them.
For now, he could only dream. But he knew that anything was possible in the magical world of the forest.
