Parkside Power Play

### Chapter One: Parked Desires

The late afternoon sun draped the local park near the university in a warm, golden haze, filtering through the sprawling oaks and casting dappled shadows on the grass. The air was thick with the scent of freshly cut lawns and the distant hum of students winding down after a long day of lectures. Ann strode through the park with the confidence of a queen surveying her kingdom, her tight tank top clinging to her toned frame and her denim shorts riding high enough to turn heads. She didn’t care who stared—she thrived on it. As part of a university cleanup initiative, she was armed with a trash picker and a garbage bag, but her presence made the mundane task look like a damn performance.

She bent down to snatch a crumpled soda can from the ground, her movements deliberate and unhurried, when her sharp hazel eyes caught sight of a familiar figure fumbling near a picnic bench. Vlad. Her desk-mate from econ class, the quiet guy who always sat with his nose in a textbook, was wrestling with a garbage bag as if it were a wild animal. His button-up shirt was rolled to the elbows, revealing forearms that were surprisingly toned for a bookworm, and his loosened tie dangled haphazardly over his chest. Those tailored trousers? They hugged his frame in a way that made Ann’s lips curl into a wicked smirk. Poor boy looked like he’d wandered out of a boardroom and into a battlefield.

“Well, well, if it isn’t Mr. Wall Street himself,” Ann called out, her voice cutting through the lazy hum of the park as she sauntered over. Her hips swayed with every step, a predator closing in on prey. “What’s the matter, Vlad? Garbage bag giving you a harder time than last week’s midterm?”

Vlad’s head snapped up, his cheeks already tinged with a faint blush. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, a nervous habit she’d noticed in class, and stammered, “Oh, uh, hey, Ann. I—I’m just… trying to get this tied up. It’s, uh, trickier than it looks.”

She stopped just a foot away, close enough that he could probably smell the faint coconut of her body lotion. Planting a hand on her hip, she tilted her head and let her gaze rake over him, slow and unapologetic. “Tricky, huh? You’re telling me you can crunch numbers like a damn calculator but can’t handle a plastic bag? Pathetic.” Her tone was teasing, but there was a bite to it, a challenge.

He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. “I guess I’m more of a… theory guy. Not so great with the hands-on stuff.”

“Oh, I bet you’re not,” she purred, her smirk widening as she watched his blush deepen. “But don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m hands-on enough for the both of us.” She stepped closer, reaching past him to grab a stray wrapper from the bench, her bare arm brushing against his. The contact was brief but electric, and she didn’t miss the way his breath hitched.

Vlad cleared his throat, clearly struggling to keep his composure. “You, uh, you’re pretty good at this cleanup thing. Been at it long?”

“Long enough to know how to get dirty and still look good doing it,” she shot back, her eyes glinting with mischief as she straightened up. She caught him glancing at her legs—long, tanned, and glistening faintly with sweat in the golden light. Her feet, perfectly pedicured with crimson polish, flexed casually as she shifted her weight, and she noticed his gaze linger there for just a second too long. *Gotcha,* she thought.

“Eyes up here, Vlad,” she snapped, though her tone was laced with amusement. “Unless you’ve got a foot fetish I should know about. Do I need to start charging for the view?”

His face turned scarlet, and he sputtered, “N-no, I wasn’t—I mean, I was just—”

“Relax, nerd,” she cut him off with a laugh, waving a hand dismissively. “I’m just messing with you. You’re too easy, you know that? Like shooting fish in a barrel.” She bent down again to pick up another piece of trash, making sure her movements were slow enough for him to notice the curve of her spine, the way her shorts hugged her thighs. When she stood, she caught him staring again and arched a brow. “You gonna help, or just stand there gawking like a lost puppy?”

“I’m helping, I’m helping,” he mumbled, quickly stooping to grab a bottle from the ground, nearly dropping it in his haste.

Ann chuckled, low and throaty. “God, you’re hopeless. But lucky for you, I’ve got a soft spot for strays.” She tossed her trash into the bag with a flick of her wrist, then turned to him with a glint in her eye. “Tell you what, desk-mate. I’ve got a special task that needs doing, and I’m not asking twice. Follow me.”

Vlad blinked, his brow furrowing. “A task? Like what?”

“Like you’ll find out when we get there,” she said, her voice dropping into a commanding purr that left no room for argument. She jerked her head toward a more secluded part of the park, where the trees grew denser and the paths were less trodden. “Move it, Vlad. I don’t have all day to babysit you.”

He hesitated for half a second, clutching his garbage bag like a lifeline, but the curiosity in his dark eyes betrayed him. “Okay, sure. Lead the way.”

Ann’s lips curled into a triumphant smile as she turned on her heel, her stride purposeful and confident. She could feel his eyes on her back, could sense the nervous energy radiating off him as he trailed behind. The hidden nook she had in mind was just beyond a cluster of evergreens—a spot she’d scoped out earlier, perfect for a little privacy. Her laughter echoed through the park, sharp and unrestrained, as she reveled in the control she wielded so effortlessly.

“Keep up, pretty boy,” she tossed over her shoulder, her tone dripping with playful menace. “You wouldn’t want to miss out on what I’ve got planned.”

Vlad’s steps faltered for a moment, but he followed, caught in her web of dominance and intrigue. And as they disappeared into the shadowed corner of the park, Ann knew she had him exactly where she wanted him—nervous, curious, and entirely at her mercy.
