She pulled out a leather-bound book and flipped it open to a marked page. Artem’s eyes widened as he read the title: “Castration: A Guide.”
“You can’t be serious,” Artem stammers, but Polina’s expression was deadpan.
“Oh, I’m very serious,” she replied, tapping the book. “And I have all the tools right here.”
Artem swallowed hard, but there was a hint of excitement in his eyes. “And why exactly do you want to do this?”
Polina’s smirk grew wider. “Because, Artem, I want to see if you can handle it. If you can take the pain and come out stronger on the other side.”
Artem nodded, his resolve growing. “Alright, I’ll do it. But on one condition.”
Polina raised an eyebrow. “What’s that?”
Artem grinned. “You have to do it too.”
Polina burst out laughing. “You wish, Artem. But I think I’ll pass.”
Artem shrugged, still grinning. “It was worth a shot.”
Polina looked at him, her eyes full of admiration. “You know, I didn’t think you had it in you. But you’re full of surprises.”
Artem returned her gaze, a glint in his eye. “You have no idea.”
Polina stood up, gathering her things. “Well, I’ll leave you to it then. I look forward to seeing the new and improved Artem.”
