Melissa Rin, a seventeen-year-old force of nature, strolled down the familiar streets of her high school, her arm looped through Rindo Haitani's. The younger brother of her boyfriend, Ran, was a sweet kid, but Melissa couldn't resist teasing him about his unrequited crush on one of her classmates.
"Oh, come on, Rindo. You can't keep pining after her like a lost puppy. You've got to make your move," she said, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm.
Rindo's cheeks flushed, but he couldn't help the grin that spread across his face. "Easy for you to say, Melissa. You're not the one who's been rejected a hundred times."
Melissa's laughter echoed through the air as they approached her house. "Well, maybe if you stopped trying so hard, she'd notice you. Girls love a challenge, you know."
With a wave and a wink, Melissa left Rindo at her doorstep, feeling a pang of guilt for leading him on. But her thoughts were quickly interrupted by a sharp pain at the base of her skull. As she crumpled to the ground, her world went black.
When Melissa regained consciousness, she found herself in a dark, unfamiliar room, her hands and feet bound, a gag in her mouth. She struggled against her restraints, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to scream for help.
The door creaked open, and a figure stepped into the dim light. Taiju, the twisted leader of the Celestial Empire, leered at her, his eyes filled with malice. Melissa's heart sank as she realized where she was and who had taken her.
Taiju approached her, a cruel smile on his face. He raised his hand, and Melissa flinched, expecting another blow. Instead, he trailed his fingers down her cheek, relishing in her fear.
"Such a shame to mar such a beautiful face," he murmured, his voice dripping with venom. "But I'm sure you'll heal. Eventually."
With a cruel laugh, Taiju began to unbuckle his belt, his eyes never leaving Melissa's. She squeezed her eyes shut, tears streaming down her cheeks as she prayed for unconsciousness to take her again.
Meanwhile, Ran Haitani received a chilling message from Rindo, who had found Melissa's unconscious body near their house. With a roar of fury, Ran and his gang members rushed to the church, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
They overpowered the Celestial Empire, and Ran confronted Taiju, his fists clenched in rage. With a single punch, he knocked Taiju out cold, his body crumpling to the ground.
Ran found Melissa, half-naked and covered in bruises, and his heart ached with protective rage. He gently covered her with his raincoat, cradling her close as he carried her home.
Melissa woke up the next morning, her body screaming in pain. She tearfully recounted the previous day's events to Ran, who held her close, vowing to protect her.
"I'll buy you a new uniform, and I'll arrange for Rindo and his subordinates to accompany you to school. You won't have to face them alone," he promised, his voice fierce.
Melissa, though still shaken, found solace in Ran's strong embrace. She knew that with him by her side, she could face anything. Even the unwelcome interruptions that life threw her way.
