Chapter 1: A Night of Temptation
Jamie adjusted the tight black dress she hadn’t worn in years, feeling the fabric hug her curvaceous, plump figure as she stepped out of the cab in the heart of the city. The wedding reception for their mutual friend had been a blur of laughter, champagne, and stolen glances at her sister Melissa, whose lean, predatory frame seemed to command every room she entered. Now, with the night still young and the buzz of alcohol warming her veins, Jamie felt a flicker of something dangerous stirring inside her—a need she hadn’t acknowledged in far too long.
Melissa, in a crimson dress that screamed sin, looped her arm through Jamie’s as they stumbled into a dimly lit bar, the bass of the music vibrating through the floor. 'Come on, sis, let’s live a little,' Melissa purred, her voice dripping with mischief. 'John’s not here to play the wet blanket, and I’m done mourning a cheating bastard. Tonight, we’re goddesses, and goddesses don’t go home alone.'
Jamie laughed, though her cheeks flushed with a mix of embarrassment and excitement. 'I’m a mom of three, Mel. I don’t even know how to flirt anymore. And besides, I’m married.'
'Married, not dead,' Melissa shot back, her sharp green eyes scanning the room like a hunter. 'You deserve to feel wanted, Jamie. When’s the last time John made you feel like a woman, huh? Not just a mom or a maid?' Her words cut deep, striking at the ache Jamie had buried beneath years of routine and rejection.
Before Jamie could protest, Melissa’s gaze locked onto two men at the bar—young, confident, and dressed in tailored suits that screamed success. One had dark, tousled hair and a smirk that could melt steel; the other, a chiseled jaw and eyes that seemed to undress every woman in the room. 'Jackpot,' Melissa whispered, dragging Jamie toward them.
'Evening, ladies,' the darker-haired one said, his voice smooth as whiskey. 'I’m Caleb, and this is Ryan. Care to join us for a drink, or are we just lucky to be in the presence of two sirens tonight?'
Melissa smirked, leaning in close. 'Sirens, huh? Careful, boys, we might just lure you to your doom. I’m Melissa, and this is my sister Jamie. She’s a little shy, but I’m working on that.'
Jamie rolled her eyes, but her heart raced as Ryan’s gaze lingered on her, his smile appreciative. 'Shy’s just a challenge,' he said, his tone teasing but warm. 'And I’m always up for a challenge.'
A few drinks later, the air was thick with tension and innuendo. Melissa was practically draped over Caleb, whispering something that made him grin wickedly, while Ryan sat close to Jamie, his knee brushing hers under the table. 'You’ve got a fire in you, Jamie,' he murmured, his voice low and intimate. 'I can see it. Why don’t you let it out, just for tonight?'
Her breath hitched, the weight of her unfulfilled desires crashing over her. 'I shouldn’t,' she said, but her voice lacked conviction. 'I’m not… I’m not that kind of woman.'
Ryan leaned closer, his lips brushing her ear. 'You’re exactly the kind of woman who deserves to be worshipped. Come with us. Our hotel’s just around the corner—opulent, private. No strings, just… release.'
Melissa, overhearing, chimed in with a wicked laugh. 'Don’t be a prude, Jamie. Let’s show these boys what real women can do. I’m game if you are.'
Jamie’s mind screamed no, but her body—oh, her body was already saying yes, aching for a touch she hadn’t felt in years. As they stepped into the sleek elevator of the upscale hotel, Ryan’s hand grazed her lower back, sending a jolt of heat through her. The doors closed, and the air grew heavy with anticipation. Melissa and Caleb were already tangled in a heated kiss in the corner, but Ryan’s focus was all on Jamie, his eyes dark with hunger.
'Last chance to back out,' he whispered, his hand sliding to her hip, pulling her closer. She could feel the hardness of him through his suit, a promise of what was to come. Her conscience wavered, but the wet heat building between her thighs drowned it out. She was tired of being unfulfilled, tired of denying herself. Tonight, she’d let the beast within awaken.
As the elevator dinged and the doors slid open, Jamie took a deep breath, her voice trembling but resolute. 'Show me what I’ve been missing.'
