Red Silk Shadows

Red Silk Shadows

Chapter 1: Midnight Intrusions

The silence of the house was a fragile web, easily torn by the hum of the refrigerator downstairs and the soft, even breathing of their children down the hall. Jett lay stiff as a board beside Clara, her warm curves pressed against him, a stark contrast to the cold dread pooling in his gut. Every groan of the old floorboards was a warning shot, a prelude to chaos.

Then it came—the sound he’d been dreading. A faint, deliberate click. The slow turn of the bedroom doorknob. The door creaked open, and a sliver of hallway light sliced across the bed, framing Lara’s silhouette. She was a specter in black silk, her pale skin almost luminous, her dark eyes pinning him with predatory intent. Clara stirred beside him, mumbling incoherently in her sleep, as Jett’s pulse thundered in his ears. Not here. Not now.

Lara glided to his side of the bed, her steps eerily silent. She pressed a cool finger to his lips, her scent—orchids laced with cognac—flooding his senses like a drug. “Don’t wake her just yet,” she murmured, her voice a silken blade. “The surprise is half the fun, don’t you think?”

Before he could protest, she rounded the bed with the grace of a panther. In a fluid motion, she drew a length of red silk from her robe’s pocket. Clara’s eyes fluttered open just as Lara looped the fabric around her wrist, tying it to the bedpost with a practiced, ruthless precision.

“Jett? What the hell—” Clara’s voice, groggy at first, sharpened into panic as her other wrist was secured. She yanked against the restraints, her eyes wide with fury. “Lara, you psycho, let me go!”

“Shh, darling,” Lara purred, leaning over her daughter-in-law with a wicked smile. “You’ll wake the little ones. We wouldn’t want that, would we?” Her tone dripped with menace, silencing Clara’s protests into a tight-lipped glare. Lara’s hand trailed over Clara’s hip, possessive and bold, making her flinch. “Such a pretty thing my son snagged. So soft. So… breakable.”

Jett surged forward to intervene, but Lara’s icy stare stopped him cold. “Stay put, darling boy,” she commanded, her voice a whip. She circled the bed, her gaze never wavering as she let her robe slip to the floor, revealing a body that was both familiar and forbidden in the moonlight. She climbed onto the bed, straddling his thighs with a weight that felt like damnation.

“You pushed me away last night,” she whispered, her fingers tracing the hard line of his jaw. “Thought you could crawl back to her after tasting me?” Her hand slid down his chest, over his stomach, and gripped him through the thin fabric of his boxers, finding him already betraying himself. He sucked in a sharp breath, hating how his body responded to her touch. “Oh, look at that. Still so eager for me.”

“Mother, please,” he rasped, his voice raw with desperation. “Not in front of her.”

“But she needs to see,” Lara countered, her lips curling into a cruel smirk as she shifted her hips, teasing him with her heat through the barrier of cloth. “She needs to know who owns you, Jett. Who always will.”

Clara’s eyes burned with a mix of horror and rage from the other side of the bed. “You’re sick, Lara. Get off him!” she spat, pulling at the silk bonds until her wrists reddened.

Lara chuckled, low and throaty, turning her gaze to Clara. “Oh, sweetheart, don’t pretend you’re not curious. I can see it in your eyes—the way you’re watching. Wondering what it feels like to lose control.” She leaned over, her fingers brushing Clara’s cheek before sliding down to the neckline of her thin nightgown. “Let’s find out together, shall we?”

Jett’s stomach churned as Lara’s hand dipped lower, but his body was a traitor, growing harder under her weight. The air was thick with tension, the room charged with a dangerous, forbidden energy. Lara’s eyes gleamed with triumph as she tugged at his waistband, freeing him, her touch sending a jolt through his core.

“Stop fighting it,” she breathed, her voice husky as she positioned herself, the promise of her wet heat hovering just out of reach. “We’re all going to enjoy this.”

And as she lowered herself, the world narrowed to the edge of an abyss, every nerve in Jett’s body screaming with a mix of shame and raw, undeniable need.
