The bar was dimly lit, the air thick with the hum of drunken patrons and the clinking of glasses. Alex, a strong-willed woman with a sharp tongue and an even sharper mind, sat at the bar nursing a drink. She was chatting with the bartender, a friendly guy named Mike, about the latest sports game. Her eyes, however, were scanning the room, taking in the crowd of people.
It was a typical Friday night, and the bar was packed. Alex was dressed in a simple black dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. She wasn't looking for attention, but she couldn't help but notice the man across the room, watching her intently.
She rolled her eyes and muttered a playful insult under her breath. "Ugh, look at that guy over there. He's been staring at me for the past ten minutes."
Mike looked over and chuckled. "He's not so bad, is he? Maybe you should give him a chance."
Alex scoffed. "No thanks. I can tell just by looking at him that he's the type of guy who doesn't take no for an answer. And I don't have time for that bullshit."
Mike raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what makes you say that?"
Alex nodded towards the man. "See how he's still staring at me, even though I'm clearly not interested? That's a red flag if I ever saw one."
Mike shrugged. "Well, if you change your mind, let me know. I'll send him your way."
Alex shook her head. "No thanks, Mike. I know what I want, and I'm not afraid to go after it. But I'm also not afraid to shut someone down when they cross the line."
Just then, the man, named Jake, made his way over to Alex. He had a smug smile on his face, and his eyes were glued to her.
"Hey there, beautiful," he said, attempting to strike up a conversation.
Alex rebuffed his advances, making it clear that she wasn't interested. "Sorry, I'm not looking for company tonight."
Jake persisted, becoming increasingly aggressive. "Oh, come on. Don't be like that. I just want to get to know you."
Alex tried to brush him off, but Jake became insistent, grabbing her arm.
Alex's eyes flashed with anger. She stood up, towering over Jake. "I said no," she growled.
Jake ignored her, pulling her closer.
Alex's anger turned to determination. She grabbed Jake's hand, twisting it behind his back.
Jake yelped in pain, trying to pull away.
Alex's grip tightened. "I don't want to hurt you," she said, her voice low and dangerous.
Jake finally got the message and backed off, stumbling away.
Alex took a deep breath, releasing Jake's hand. She watched him leave, a mix of anger and relief on her face.
Mike gave her a sympathetic look. "You okay?"
Alex nodded, taking a sip of her drink. "I'm fine. Just need to finish this and head home."
Mike nodded. "You sure? I can call you a cab if you want."
Alex shook her head. "No, I'm good. I can handle myself."
Mike smiled. "That's why I like you, Alex. You're strong, independent, and you know what you want. Don't ever let anyone take that away from you."
Alex smiled back. "Thanks, Mike. I won't."
She finished her drink and headed out into the night, feeling proud of herself for standing up for herself. She knew that not every situation would end that way, but she was determined to never let anyone take advantage of her again.
