Chapter 1: The Shared Saddle
The sun hung low over the sprawling ranch, casting golden streaks across the rolling hills as Lila adjusted her cowboy hat, her sharp green eyes glinting with mischief. At twenty-five, she was no stranger to the wild, untamed life of the countryside, her toned legs and confident stride a testament to years of riding. Her father, Jack, stood by the stable, a rugged man of forty-eight, his weathered face breaking into a sly grin as he watched her approach. The air between them crackled with an unspoken tension, a dangerous edge that had grown sharper since she’d returned home from college.
‘Thought you’d forgotten how to ride, darlin’,’ Jack teased, his voice a low rumble as he patted the flank of their shared horse, a massive chestnut stallion named Blaze. ‘Or are you just here to show off that fancy city attitude?’
Lila smirked, stepping closer, her boots kicking up dust. ‘I’ve got more than attitude, Daddy. I’ve got skills you haven’t seen in years. Bet I can outride you before we even hit the ridge.’
‘Big talk for a little girl,’ he shot back, his gaze lingering on her curves, barely hidden by her tight jeans. ‘But there’s only one saddle today. You’re riding with me.’
Her brow arched, a challenge sparking in her expression. ‘Fine. But don’t think I’m just gonna sit pretty. I’m taking the reins.’
Jack chuckled, a dark, hungry edge to the sound as he swung himself onto Blaze, then offered a hand to pull her up. She settled in front of him, her firm ass pressing against his crotch as the horse shifted beneath them. The contact sent a jolt through her, and she felt his breath hitch against her neck. ‘Careful, Lila,’ he murmured, his voice rough. ‘You’re playing with fire.’
‘Good,’ she retorted, twisting her head to meet his eyes, her lips curling into a wicked smile. ‘I like it hot.’
As Blaze trotted forward, the rhythm of the ride pressed their bodies closer, each bounce a deliberate tease. Lila’s heart raced, her skin flushing as she felt the hard outline of him against her. She wasn’t backing down—not now, not ever. ‘You feel that, Daddy?’ she whispered, her tone dripping with defiance. ‘I’m not the little girl you remember.’
Jack’s hands tightened on her hips, his fingers digging in just enough to make her gasp. ‘Damn right, you’re not,’ he growled, his breath hot on her ear. ‘But you keep pushing, and I’m gonna show you just how much of a man I still am.’
The trail ahead wound through a secluded grove, the trees closing in like a secret waiting to be uncovered. Lila’s pulse thundered, her body already aching, wet with anticipation. She could feel him, hard and unyielding behind her, and she knew they were galloping toward something far more dangerous than any ride. As Blaze picked up speed, so did their game, the air between them thick with lust and unspoken promises. She turned her head again, her lips inches from his. ‘Then show me,’ she dared, her voice a sultry challenge. ‘Right now.’
