Ring of Ruin: A Dangerous Game

Ring of Ruin: A Dangerous Game

Chapter 1: The Unexpected Arena

The roar of the crowd hit Ethan like a tidal wave as he stumbled into the dimly lit arena, his sneakers squeaking on the polished floor. He’d thought this was just a local wrestling match, a bit of fun with a silly prize at the end. Maybe a cheap trophy or a gift card. But the air here was thick with something primal, something hungry. And the crowd? All women. Their cheers were sharp, their eyes glinting with a predatory edge as they sized him up. At eighteen, Ethan was all gangly limbs and wide, innocent eyes, his cheeks still carrying the soft flush of youth. He barely stood five-foot-five, a twig in a forest of giants.

In front of him, the ground trembled. Literally. Each step of the woman approaching him sent tiny shockwaves through the floor. She was a mountain of muscle, a tomboy titan with shoulders broader than a linebacker’s and thighs that could crush steel. Her cropped hair was slick with sweat, her tank top clinging to every hard curve of her body. She towered over him—hell, he barely reached her hips. The size difference was almost comical, if it weren’t so terrifying.

‘Well, well, what do we have here?’ Her voice was a low growl, dripping with amusement as she cracked her knuckles. ‘A little lamb wandered into the slaughterhouse.’

Ethan’s heart jackhammered in his chest. ‘I-I think there’s been a mistake,’ he stammered, his voice cracking like a kid’s. ‘I just wanted to watch, maybe win a prize or—’

‘Oh, you’ll win something, alright,’ she cut him off, grinning with teeth that looked too sharp to be human. ‘If you survive.’

Before he could process that, the announcer’s voice blared over the speakers, a woman with a bored drawl, popping gum between words. ‘Ladies, welcome to tonight’s main event! A death match for the ages! In one corner, our reigning champ, the unstoppable Crusher Kali! And in the other… uh, some kid who looks like he’s about to wet himself!’ The crowd erupted in laughter, the sound slicing through Ethan’s already fraying nerves.

‘Death match?!’ His voice shot up an octave as he dropped to his knees, hands clasped in desperation. ‘Please, I’m begging you, let me go! I don’t even know how to wrestle! I’m just—’

Kali crouched down, her massive frame casting a shadow over him. Her eyes gleamed with something dark and dangerous, but also… intrigued. ‘Look at you,’ she purred, her tone mocking but laced with heat. ‘So damn cute, I could just eat you up. Or crush you. Haven’t decided yet.’ She reached out, tipping his chin up with a calloused finger, forcing him to meet her gaze. ‘Beg a little harder, pretty boy. I like the sound of it.’

Ethan’s face burned, torn between fear and a weird, fluttering heat in his stomach. ‘I-I’ll do anything,’ he whispered, his voice trembling. ‘Just don’t hurt me.’

‘Anything, huh?’ Kali’s grin widened, and she stood, looming over him again. ‘That’s a dangerous promise to make to a woman like me.’ Her eyes raked over him, and despite the terror, Ethan felt a shiver that wasn’t entirely fear. There was something about her raw power, the way her muscles flexed with every move, that made his breath hitch.

The crowd chanted now, their voices a fevered rhythm. ‘Crush him! Crush him!’

Kali chuckled, rolling her shoulders. ‘Hear that, kid? They want a show. And I’m real good at giving one.’ She stepped closer, her shadow swallowing him whole. ‘But first, let’s see if you’ve got any fight in that scrawny little body.’

Ethan scrambled back, his mind racing, but there was nowhere to go. The ring was a cage, and Kali was the predator. Yet, as her hand shot out, grabbing his wrist with a grip like iron, he felt a jolt—fear, yes, but also a spark of something hotter, something forbidden. Her touch was rough, commanding, and damn if it didn’t make his pulse spike for reasons he couldn’t name.

‘Don’t run, sweetheart,’ she taunted, yanking him closer with ease. ‘I’m just getting started.’ Her other hand hovered near his arm, fingers flexing with intent, and Ethan’s world narrowed to the heat of her breath, the sheer dominance in her stance. Whatever happened next, he knew it was going to hurt… and maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t entirely opposed to finding out how much.
