River's Temptation

River's Temptation

Chapter 1: The Summer Heat

Hey, I’m Dima, and let me tell you about the summer that changed everything. It was a scorching day in the village, the kind where the air sticks to your skin and the sun dares you to step outside. I was just a guy, barely out of my awkward teenage phase, when I lost the innocence of my backwoods life down by the river with the local boys—and one unforgettable girl.

The river was our escape, a shimmering ribbon of cool relief cutting through the dusty fields. We’d strip down to nothing, laughing and shoving each other into the water, not a care in the world. That day, though, there was a new face among the usual crew. Her name was Katya, a firecracker of a woman who’d just moved to the village with her family. She wasn’t like the shy girls I’d grown up with—Katya had a sharp tongue and a gaze that could cut through steel.

‘So, Dima,’ she called out, wading into the water with a smirk, her bikini clinging to her curves like a second skin. ‘You gonna stand there gawking, or are you gonna swim? I don’t bite… unless you ask nicely.’

I felt my cheeks burn, but I wasn’t about to let her get the upper hand. ‘Oh, I’m not worried about biting, Katya. I’m just wondering if you can keep up with us country boys.’

She laughed, a low, throaty sound that sent a jolt straight through me. ‘Keep up? Sweetheart, I’ll leave you panting in the dust. Bet I can race you to the other bank and back before you even get wet.’

‘Wet, huh?’ I shot back, grinning despite myself. ‘Careful, Katya. Talk like that might get you in trouble.’

Her eyes glinted with mischief as she splashed water at me. ‘Trouble’s my middle name, Dima. Question is, can you handle it?’

The race was on, and damn if she wasn’t fast. We tore through the river, water sluicing off our bodies, the heat of the day forgotten in the rush. She beat me by a hair, turning to face me with a triumphant grin as we reached the bank, both of us breathing hard. Her chest heaved, droplets clinging to her skin, and I couldn’t tear my eyes away.

‘Told you,’ she teased, stepping closer, her voice dropping to a husky whisper. ‘I don’t play to lose. Now, what’s my prize?’

I swallowed, my throat dry despite the water around us. ‘Name it,’ I said, my voice rougher than I intended.

Katya’s gaze flicked down, then back up, a wicked smile curling her lips. ‘Oh, I’ve got a few ideas. But let’s start with getting out of this river. I’m feeling… overheated.’

We climbed onto the grassy bank, the others still splashing far behind us, oblivious to the tension crackling in the air. She sat down, patting the spot next to her, and I obeyed, my heart pounding. Her skin was flushed, her eyes dark with something I was only just beginning to understand. The space between us felt charged, electric.

‘Dima,’ she murmured, leaning in, her breath hot against my ear. ‘You’ve got no idea what you’re in for, do you?’

I turned to her, our faces inches apart, and smirked. ‘Try me, Katya. I’m a quick learner.’

Her hand slid to my thigh, bold and unapologetic, and I felt myself go hard in an instant. The world narrowed to the heat of her touch, the challenge in her eyes. She wasn’t some delicate flower waiting to be plucked—she was a storm, and I was about to get caught in it.
