Rogue's Rules: Power Plays and Passion at X-Mansion

### Chapter One: Classroom Heat

The X-Mansion classroom buzzed with restless energy, a hive of mutant teens itching for trouble under the flickering fluorescent lights. At the front, Rogue stood like a general commanding a battlefield, her sharp green eyes slicing through the chaos. Her Southern drawl, thick as honey but laced with steel, rolled over the room as she lectured on mutant ethics, her gloved hands gesturing with precision. “Y’all better listen up,” she snapped, her voice cutting through the chatter like a whip. “Respect ain’t just a word—it’s a damn necessity. For us, for humans, for anyone who crosses our path.”

At the back, Tim, the resident jock with fire powers and an ego to match, lounged in his chair, legs sprawled wide as if he owned the place. His buddies snickered around him, egging him on as he tossed out crude jokes, his voice deliberately loud enough to carry. “Yo, if ethics means kissin’ ass, I’m out,” he sneered, earning a round of stifled laughs. “Unless it’s Principal Rogue’s ass—then I’m all in.”

The room froze. Rogue’s gaze snapped to him, her eyes narrowing to deadly slits. With a deliberate, almost predatory slowness, she slammed her textbook onto the desk, the sound echoing like a gunshot. Silence smothered the room. “Y’all got somethin’ to say?” she barked, her accent sharpening with every word. “’Cause I’m real tired of hearin’ your traps flappin’. Shut it. Now.”

Tim, undeterred, leaned back further, his smirk widening as he crossed his arms. “I’ll quiet down if you bend over and ask nicely, Principal,” he drawled, his tone dripping with sleaze. A collective gasp rippled through the students, some shrinking in their seats, others gaping in morbid fascination.

Rogue’s face flushed with barely contained fury, her gloved fists clenching at her sides. But before she could unleash the verbal hellfire brewing in her chest, a chair scraped loudly against the floor. Ben, the quiet ice-wielding mutant who usually kept to himself in the corner, stood up. His jaw was tight, his pale blue eyes glinting with a dangerous edge as he fixed Tim with a stare cold enough to frost glass.

The room watched, breath held, as Ben stalked over to Tim’s desk, his boots heavy on the tile. Without a word, he grabbed Tim by the collar of his jacket, yanking him halfway out of his seat. “That’s no way to talk to a woman,” Ben growled, his voice low and lethal, “let alone my girl.”

A stunned silence gripped the classroom. Even Rogue’s breath caught, her eyes widening for a split second before she masked it with her usual iron control. My girl? The words hung in the air, electric and unexpected, sending a jolt through her that she refused to acknowledge.

Tim blinked, then scoffed, flames flickering at his fingertips as he shoved Ben’s hand off. “Fire melts ice, frosty,” he taunted, his smirk returning. “You’re outta your league.”

Ben didn’t flinch, his icy glare unwavering as frost began to creep along his knuckles. “Not if I freeze your hands first, hothead,” he shot back, his voice a chilling promise.

Rogue felt a rush of heat despite herself, her thighs clenching under the desk as Ben’s protectiveness stirred something primal in her. But she was no damsel, and she sure as hell wasn’t about to let this pissing contest derail her authority. Slamming her hand on the desk again, she barked, “Boys, take your seats. Now!”

Tim snickered, leaning back with a lazy shrug. “Didn’t know your girl fights your battles for you, Ben,” he mocked, his tone dripping with disdain. Ben’s low growl rumbled in response, the tension in the room thick enough to choke on.

Rogue had had enough. Her patience snapped like a brittle twig. Pointing to the door with a gloved finger, she commanded, “Out in the hallway. Both of ya. Now!” Her voice left no room for argument, her green eyes blazing with authority.

The trio stepped into the empty hallway, Rogue’s boots clicking with purpose against the polished floor. She crossed her arms, her posture rigid as she glared at Tim. “Apologize,” she ordered, her tone sharp enough to cut steel. “And I mean it, boy. Don’t test me.”

Tim rolled his eyes, muttering a half-hearted, “Sorry, Principal,” under his breath, barely meeting her gaze. Rogue’s lip curled in disdain, but she jerked her head toward the classroom door. “Get back in there. And keep your mouth shut for once.” With a sharp gesture, she dismissed him, slamming the door behind him with a force that rattled the frame.

Now alone with Ben, Rogue turned on him, her eyes still blazing with a mix of irritation and something hotter, more dangerous. “What the hell were ya thinkin’, callin’ me your girl in front of everyone, sugar?” she demanded, stepping closer, her voice low but laced with a challenge. “You got a death wish, or just a knack for makin’ my day harder?”

Ben didn’t back down, his cool blue gaze locking with hers. Before she could turn away, his hand shot out, fingers wrapping around her wrist through the fabric of her glove. He yanked her back, pulling her flush against him, the sudden closeness stealing the air from her lungs. Then, without hesitation, he crashed his lips into hers, the kiss hard and hungry, a clash of heat and ice that sent a shiver down her spine. Pulling back just enough to murmur against her mouth, he rasped, “Not yet.”

Rogue’s breath hitched, her heart pounding as she stared into his intense, unyielding eyes. He didn’t let go, his grip firm but not forceful, as he added in a low, rough whisper, “Can you be my girl?”

Her lips parted, a sharp retort on the tip of her tongue, but it died there as she bit her lower lip, considering. The hallway seemed to shrink around them, the air charged with unspoken tension. Rogue’s mind raced—part of her wanted to shove him away, to reassert her control, but another part, raw and reckless, wanted to see just how far this icy fire could burn.

“Well, sugar,” she finally drawled, her voice dripping with dangerous promise as she tilted her head, a smirk tugging at her lips, “that depends on if you can handle a woman who don’t play nice.”
