Chapter 1: Tease and Tension
The late afternoon sun spilled through the gymnasium windows, casting golden streaks across the polished floor where Sasha, with her wild blonde hair tied back in a messy ponytail, dominated the volleyball court. Her athletic frame moved with predatory grace, spiking the ball with a ferocity that made the other players flinch. She was a force, a storm in tight shorts, and she knew it. Her sharp blue eyes flicked to the bleachers where Ethan sat, his glasses perched on his nose, a book in his lap, looking every bit the quiet nerd everyone thought he was.
'Hey, four-eyes!' Sasha called out, her voice dripping with playful venom as she wiped sweat from her brow. 'You gonna sit there all day or come down here and show us how it’s done? Oh wait, you might break a nail.'
Ethan didn’t look up from his book, but a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. 'I’d rather not embarrass you in front of your fan club, Sash. Wouldn’t want them to see their queen get schooled.'
Her teammates snickered, and Sasha shot them a glare that could melt steel before turning back to Ethan. 'Big talk for a guy who probably jerks off to calculus equations. Bet you couldn’t spike a ball if your life depended on it.'
Ethan finally lifted his gaze, his hazel eyes glinting with something dangerous behind those fake nerd glasses. 'Keep running that mouth, Sasha. You know I’ve got better things to do with my hands.'
The innuendo hung in the air, thick and electric, and Sasha felt a flush creep up her neck. She hated how he could do that—turn her sharp tongue against her with just a look. She’d known him since they were kids, back when he’d stand up to bullies twice his size to protect her. Now, she was the tough one, the cynic who chewed up alpha jocks and spat them out, but Ethan… he was her weakness. And damn if he didn’t know it.
After practice, the gym emptied out, leaving just the two of them. Sasha sauntered over to where Ethan still sat, her sneakers squeaking on the floor. She dropped onto the bleacher beside him, her thigh brushing his. 'You’re such a fucking tease, you know that?' she muttered, her voice low, almost a growl.
Ethan closed his book with a deliberate snap, turning to face her. 'Takes one to know one, princess. You’ve been eye-fucking me all day.'
She laughed, sharp and biting, but there was heat in it. 'Maybe I have. What’re you gonna do about it, nerd? Hide behind your little book?'
He leaned in, close enough that she could feel the warmth of his breath on her lips. Underneath the baggy hoodie, she knew what he hid—a body carved from early morning runs and late-night push-ups, all muscle and raw power. He played the part of the geek, but she’d seen him shirtless, seen the way his abs flexed, and fuck, it made her wet just thinking about it.
'I think,' Ethan said, his voice a low rumble, 'I’m gonna take you somewhere private and shut that smart mouth of yours. Unless you’re all talk.'
Sasha’s pulse raced, her body already humming with anticipation. She grabbed his collar, pulling him closer. 'Oh, I’m all action, baby. Let’s see if you can keep up.'
They stumbled out of the gym, the tension between them a live wire as they headed toward the empty locker room. The air was thick with the scent of sweat and desire, and as the door slammed shut behind them, Sasha pushed Ethan against the wall, her hands already tugging at his hoodie. 'Show me what you’ve got, tough guy,' she taunted, her lips curling into a wicked grin.
Ethan’s glasses came off with a flick, revealing the hunger in his eyes. His hands gripped her hips, pulling her flush against him, and she could feel how hard he was already, pressing into her. 'Keep talking, Sash,' he growled. 'I’m about to make you scream.'
Their mouths crashed together, all teeth and heat, as the promise of something explosive ignited between them.
