Sadie Adler's School of Red-Light Rodeo: A Guide to Controlling the Ranch from the Saddle

Chapter One: The Widow’s Whorehouse

Sadie Adler, a recent widow and new owner of the most infamous brothel in Saint Denis, stood in the middle of the main room, her critical eyes scanning over the working ladies. Dressed in all black, she was the epitome of a grieving widow, but the fire in her eyes told a different story. She was a woman in control, a woman who knew what she wanted and how to get it.

As she observed the room, she couldn’t help but notice a few things that needed improvement. She made a mental note to speak with the madam later. She was not one to shy away from confrontation, especially when it came to her business.

A young prostitute named Lily approached Sadie, wiping her hands on her dress. “Mrs. Adler,” she said, curtseying slightly. “How can I assist you today?”

Sadie raised an eyebrow at the girl’s forwardness. “I’m not your ‘Mrs. Adler,’ I’m Sadie. And I’ll let you know when I need something.”

Lily nodded, her cheeks flushing. “Of course, Sadie.”

Sadie walked over to the bar and poured herself a drink. She noticed one of the girls, Rose, flirting with a customer. Sadie smirked, amused. “Rose, darling,” she called out. “Don’t be so obvious. You’re going to scare him off.”

Rose stuck her tongue out at Sadie, but made her way over to the piano, where she began to sing a sultry song. Sadie watched with approval, taking a sip of her drink.

A group of rowdy men entered the brothel, led by a portly man with a greasy mustache. Sadie recognized him as one of the local politicians. She walked over to him, a smile on her face. “Senator,” she said, extending her hand. “Welcome to my establishment. I hope you and your friends find everything to your liking.”

The Senator leered at Sadie, taking her hand and bringing it to his lips. “Mrs. Adler,” he said, his breath reeking of alcohol. “I’m sure we will.”

Sadie withdrew her hand, her smile never faltering. “It’s Sadie. And I’m sure you will too.”

She watched as the Senator and his friends made their way upstairs, led by one of the girls. She turned to Lily, who was still standing nearby. “Make sure they’re taken care of,” she said. “And make sure they pay.”

Lily nodded, a mischievous glint in her eye. “Of course, Sadie.” She winked at Sadie before making her way over to the group of men.

Sadie turned her attention back to the room, watching as the girls worked their magic on the customers. She felt a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that she was the one in control.

A tall, handsome man entered the brothel, catching Sadie’s eye. She watched as he made his way over to the bar, ordering a drink. She couldn’t help but feel a spark of attraction.

Sadie walked over to the man, introducing herself. “I’m Sadie,” she said, extending her hand. “And you are?”

The man took her hand, bringing it to his lips. “Charmed,” he said, his eyes twinkling. “I’m Jack.”

Sadie and Jack engaged in flirtatious banter, their attraction growing stronger. Sadie could not remember the last time she felt this way about a man.

Jack leaned in closer to Sadie, his breath warm on her neck. “Would you like to retire to one of the rooms?” he asked, his voice low and seductive.

Sadie grinned, her eyes sparkling. “I thought you’d never ask.”

As they made their way upstairs, Sadie couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. It had been a long time since she had felt this alive. She was a widow, a businesswoman, but tonight, she was simply a woman, ready to explore her desires.

The end of chapter one leaves the readers eagerly anticipating what's next for Sadie and Jack as they retreat to one of the rooms. The stage is set for a story full of strong female characters, sharp and witty dialogue, and plenty of erotic encounters.
