Jason nervously tapped his phone screen, his fingers fumbling over the letters as he typed out a group text to his friends.
"Hey, you guys wanna come over to my house tonight? My sister's gonna be there too," he wrote, his heart racing at the prospect of what the night might bring.
Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him. "Ooh, who are you inviting over, little brother?"
Jason jumped, startled, and turned to see his sister Lily standing in the doorway of the living room. She leaned against the frame, her arms crossed over her chest and a smirk on her face.
"N-nobody," Jason stammered, trying to hide his phone screen from her prying eyes.
But Lily wasn't fooled. She raised an eyebrow and sauntered over to him, snatching the phone from his hands.
"Let me see who you're trying to invite over," she said, her voice dripping with amusement.
Jason's face turned bright red as Lily read the text out loud. "Oh, I see. You're trying to invite your friends over to take advantage of me."
Jason's mouth dropped open in shock. "No, I-I didn't mean it like that!" he protested.
But Lily just laughed. "Sure you didn't. You're such a smooth talker, Jason."
Jason tried to backtrack, but Lily stopped him. "I'll consider it," she said, a glint in her eye. "But only if you can prove yourself worthy."
Jason's mind raced as he tried to think of a way to impress Lily. He had always admired his older sister, with her strong, controlling personality and her sharp wit. He wanted nothing more than to win her over.
"How about I show you my knowledge of wine?" he suggested, hoping to impress her with his sophistication.
Lily rolled her eyes, but a smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. "Oh, please. You're such a pretentious little thing," she teased.
But as Jason went on to explain the different notes and flavors of the wine, Lily found herself impressed by his passion. She had never seen him so animated before, and it was refreshing.
Jason continued to try and win Lily over with his charm and wit, and she found herself entertained by his attempts. She playfully insulted him, calling him a "try-hard" and a "show-off," but secretly, she was flattered by his attention.
Just as Jason was starting to think he might have a chance with Lily, his friends arrived. She greeted them warmly, but with a sense of authority that made them all stand at attention.
Jason's friends were taken aback by Lily's strength and confidence, but they couldn't deny her beauty and charm. They couldn't take their eyes off of her as she moved around the room, pouring drinks and making small talk.
The night was young, and the tension was high. Anything could happen. Jason and Lily locked eyes, a silent challenge passing between them. It was going to be a long, interesting night.
