**Chapter 1: The Uniform of Desire**
The auction block was a cold, humiliating stage, but Paula stood tall, her chin lifted defiantly as the gavel fell. Twenty-five years old, a petty shoplifter caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, she was now property. The new government’s solution to overcrowded prisons was as ruthless as it was absurd—sell the inmates as slaves to the highest bidder. And Paula, with her sharp tongue and fiercer spirit, had just been bought by Mr. Robinson, a man with a greasy smile and a peculiar business.
“You’ll fit right in, darling,” Robinson had said, his voice dripping with sleaze as he handed her the uniform she’d be wearing at his kitschy ‘School Dinners’ themed restaurant. The outfit was a mockery of innocence: a cropped white shirt that clung to her curves, leaving her braless and exposed; a plaid skirt so short it barely skimmed the tops of her thighs; stockings and suspenders that framed her legs like a forbidden invitation; and knickers so skimpy they did little to cover her firm, defiant ass. Paula hated it. But she wasn’t about to let this bastard see her squirm.
Her first shift started at six sharp. The restaurant was a bizarre fever dream of nostalgia—checkered tablecloths, chalkboard menus, and waitresses dressed like naughty schoolgirls serving meatloaf and mash. Paula adjusted her skirt for the hundredth time, feeling the eyes of every leering customer on her as she balanced a tray of lukewarm peas. Robinson hovered near the bar, his gaze lingering too long on her barely covered skin.
“Smile, sweetheart,” he muttered, sidling up to her as she passed. “You’re the star of the show tonight.”
Paula shot him a look that could’ve curdled milk. “Call me sweetheart again, and I’ll shove this tray so far up your ass you’ll be tasting peas for a week.”
Robinson chuckled, unfazed. “Feisty. I like that. Keeps the punters coming back. You’ve got fire, Paula. Let’s see if you can handle the heat.”
She rolled her eyes, her lips curling into a smirk. “Oh, I can handle heat, Mr. Robinson. Question is, can you keep up without burning yourself?”
His eyes darkened, a flicker of something hungry passing through them. “Careful, girl. I might just take that as a challenge.”
“Good,” she snapped back, her voice low and dangerous. “I don’t break easy. Try me.”
The tension between them crackled like static, sharp and electric. Paula turned on her heel, her skirt flipping just enough to tease as she sauntered to a table of rowdy customers. She could feel Robinson’s stare boring into her, and damn if it didn’t ignite something in her—a mix of defiance and raw, untamed desire. She wasn’t about to be his plaything, but she’d play the game on her terms.
Later, as the night wound down and the last drunk patron stumbled out, Robinson cornered her in the dimly lit kitchen. The air was thick with the scent of grease and unspoken tension. He stepped closer, his breath hot against her ear. “You’ve got a mouth on you, Paula. I wonder what else it can do.”
She spun around, her eyes blazing, pressing a hand against his chest to keep him at bay—but not pushing him away. “Keep wondering, creep. I don’t give out free samples. You want a taste? Earn it.”
His grin was predatory, but Paula held her ground, her heart pounding with a mix of anger and something hotter, something primal. She could feel the heat radiating off him, the hard edge of his desire pressing against the thin fabric of his trousers. Her own body betrayed her, a rush of warmth pooling between her thighs, her breath catching as she stared him down.
“Earn it, huh?” he growled, his hand brushing the edge of her skirt, daring her to flinch. “I’ve got all night to prove myself, darling.”
Paula’s smirk was pure challenge. “Then stop talking and start showing, big man. I’m not impressed yet.”
The space between them shrank, the air heavy with anticipation. Her skin prickled, her pulse racing as his fingers grazed higher, teasing the edge of her stockings. She wasn’t backing down—not now, not ever. Whatever game this was, she’d play to win, even if it meant letting the heat consume them both.
