Chapter 1: Homecoming Heat
The dusty roads of my hometown hadn’t changed a bit in the five years I’d been gone. Same cracked asphalt, same faded diner sign blinking half-heartedly in the dusk. But something was off. I could feel it in the way the air clung to my skin, heavy with secrets. I, Zayn, had come back to confront the ghosts of my past, only to find my mother and father tangled in a web darker than I could’ve imagined—a damn drug cartel. But that’s a storm for tomorrow. Tonight, I needed a drink, and maybe something—or someone—to take the edge off.
I pushed open the door to Rusty’s Bar, the only watering hole in this godforsaken place that hadn’t shut down. The jukebox wailed some old country tune, and the air was thick with cheap beer and cheaper cologne. My eyes scanned the room, landing on her. Raven. She was leaning against the bar, all sharp angles and sharper eyes, her leather jacket slung over a stool like she owned the joint. She’d always been trouble, the kind you couldn’t resist even if you tried. And hell, I wasn’t about to start trying now.
‘Well, damn, if it ain’t Zayn, back from the big city,’ she drawled, her voice like whiskey over gravel. She tilted her head, a smirk playing on her full lips as she sized me up. ‘Thought you’d forgotten us little people.’
I slid onto the stool next to her, close enough to catch the faint scent of her perfume—something dark and spicy that made my pulse kick. ‘Forget you, Raven? Not a chance. You’re the kind of bad idea that sticks.’
She laughed, low and throaty, her fingers tracing the rim of her glass. ‘Flattery’ll get you nowhere, city boy. But I’m curious—what’s got you slinking back here with that haunted look in your eyes?’
‘Family business,’ I said, keeping it vague. I wasn’t ready to spill about the cartel mess just yet. ‘And maybe I missed a certain someone who knows how to keep things... interesting.’
Her smirk widened, and she leaned in, her breath hot against my ear. ‘Oh, I can make things real interesting, Zayn. Question is, can you keep up? I’m not the sweet little thing you remember.’
‘Good,’ I shot back, my voice dropping. ‘I’m not looking for sweet. I’m looking for trouble.’
Her eyes flashed with something dangerous, something hungry. She stood, grabbing her jacket and tossing a few bills on the bar. ‘Then let’s get out of here. My place. Unless you’re all talk.’
I followed her out into the humid night, the tension between us crackling like a live wire. Her place was a small, dimly lit apartment above the old garage, all rough edges and raw energy—just like her. The door barely clicked shut before she was on me, her hands fisting in my shirt, pulling me close.
‘You’ve got no idea how long I’ve wanted to tear into you,’ she growled, her lips hovering over mine, teasing, taunting.
‘Then stop talking and do it,’ I challenged, my hands gripping her hips, feeling the heat of her through her tight jeans.
She didn’t need another push. Her mouth crashed into mine, all fire and demand, her tongue staking claim like she owned me. I shoved her back against the wall, my body pressing into hers, already hard as hell from the way she moved against me. Her nails dug into my shoulders, and I could feel her smirk against my lips.
‘Eager, aren’t you?’ she teased, her voice dripping with mockery even as her breath hitched. ‘Let’s see if that cock of yours is as cocky as your mouth.’
I groaned, the challenge stoking the fire in my veins. My hands slid down to her ass, squeezing hard as I ground against her, letting her feel just how ready I was. She gasped, her head tilting back, exposing the line of her throat. I didn’t hesitate, dragging my lips down her neck, tasting the salt of her skin as she arched into me.
‘Fuck, Zayn,’ she panted, her fingers already working at my belt. ‘You’d better not hold back. I want it rough, and I want it now.’
Her words sent a jolt straight to my core, my cock throbbing as I yanked her shirt over her head, revealing the black lace barely containing her. She was wet, I could tell, the heat between us electric as she shoved my jeans down, her hand wrapping around me with a grip that made me hiss.
‘Damn, Raven,’ I growled, my voice raw. ‘You’re gonna make me lose it before we even get started.’
‘Good,’ she shot back, her eyes glinting with wicked intent. ‘I want you sweating, panting, and begging for more.’
And just like that, we were a tangle of limbs and heat, the room shrinking to nothing but the sound of our ragged breaths and the promise of an explosive release about to ignite.
