Smoldering Heights

Chapter 1: Cabin Fever Ignites

The Smokey Mountains loomed like silent giants, their misty peaks cradling the secluded cabin where Darin and Tina had escaped for a three-day weekend. The air was crisp, tinged with pine and the promise of something wild. Darin, a lean 22-year-old with tousled brown hair and piercing hazel eyes, hauled their bags up the wooden steps, his 5’10” frame casting a shadow over the porch. Tina, a petite brunette with sharp brown eyes framed by glasses, followed close behind. At 5’2”, she was a firecracker packed into a small frame, her average-sized breasts hinted at beneath a snug sweater. She smirked, adjusting her glasses as she eyed the rustic cabin with a mix of curiosity and mischief.

“Nice place to get lost in, huh?” Tina quipped, her voice dripping with playful intent as she brushed past Darin, her hip grazing his thigh just enough to make him pause. “Hope you’re ready to keep up with me, city boy.”

Darin grinned, dropping the bags inside the door and turning to face her. “Oh, I’m ready, Tina. Question is, can you handle the heat? This ain’t no urban jungle.” His hazel eyes glinted with challenge, locking onto hers as he stepped closer, the space between them crackling with unspoken tension.

She laughed, a low, throaty sound, and pushed her glasses up her nose. “Heat? Darlin’, I’m the one who brings the fire. You just try not to get burned.” Her gaze flicked down his body, lingering just long enough to make her point before she sauntered into the living room. The sight of the massive bearskin rug sprawled before a stone fireplace stopped her in her tracks. “Well, damn. That’s practically begging for trouble.”

Darin followed, his boots thudding softly on the hardwood floor. He stood behind her, close enough that she could feel the warmth of his breath on her neck. “Trouble’s my middle name,” he murmured, his voice a low growl. “But I’m guessing you’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve too.”

Tina turned, her brown eyes flashing with defiance and desire. “Tricks? Oh, honey, I’ve got a whole damn playbook. Care to flip through the pages?” She stepped closer, her chest brushing against his, her fingers trailing lightly down his arm. The air thickened, the scent of woodsmoke and lust mingling as the fireplace awaited its first spark.

Outside, the balcony hot tub steamed under the twilight sky, absolute privacy shielding them from the world. But it was here, in the glow of the cabin’s rustic charm, that the real heat was building. Darin’s hand slid to her waist, pulling her in, his lips hovering just above hers. “Let’s start with the first chapter,” he whispered, his voice rough with want.

Tina’s smirk widened, her hands sliding up his chest, fingers curling into his shirt. “Better make it a bestseller, then,” she shot back, her breath hot against his mouth. Their lips crashed together, hungry and fierce, as the promise of the bearskin rug, the king-sized bed upstairs, and the heart-shaped tub lingered like a siren’s call. The weekend had just begun, and the mountains themselves seemed to tremble with anticipation of the fire about to erupt.
