Cady sauntered into the forge of Hephaestus, the god of fire and metalworking, her fiery red hair cascading down her shoulders as she complained about her current relationship status. "Ugh, I can't believe I'm still single," she groaned, plopping herself down on a nearby stool.
Hephaestus, who was in the middle of hammering away at a new creation, grunted in response. His muscular build was covered in a sheen of sweat and soot, but it did nothing to detract from his raw strength and power. Cady couldn't help but steal glances at him as he worked, her gaze lingering on the way his muscles rippled with each strike of his hammer.
"I know the feeling," Hephaestus finally said, setting his hammer down and wiping the sweat from his brow. "I'm about as single as they come."
Cady raised an eyebrow. "Really? I find that hard to believe. With a body like that, I'm sure the goddesses are lining up to be with you."
Hephaestus chuckled, the sound deep and rumbling. "I wish. I'm afraid my social skills leave something to be desired."
Cady couldn't help but be drawn to his honesty and vulnerability. She found herself wanting to know more about him, to uncover the layers that lay beneath his rough exterior.
As if sensing her thoughts, Hephaestus asked, "Why are you single, Cady? You're a goddess, after all. I'm sure you have your pick of the litter."
Cady shrugged. "I've just never found anyone who can keep up with me, intellectually or otherwise. I'm a goddess of inventions and technology, after all. It's not exactly the most attractive trait."
Hephaestus grinned. "I beg to differ. I find your intelligence and wit incredibly attractive."
Cady's heart skipped a beat. No one had ever complimented her on her intelligence before. She found herself wanting to spend more time with Hephaestus, to see where this unexpected connection could lead.
As if reading her mind, Hephaestus brought up the subject of dating. "So, why aren't we dating, Cady?"
Cady raised an eyebrow. "Well, you just said you're too busy with your work."
Hephaestus scoffed. "That's just an excuse. I'm never too busy for something I want."
Cady smirked. "Oh really? Prove it."
Hephaestus didn't hesitate. He stood up, grabbing a nearby piece of metal and holding it out to Cady. "Let's work on a project together. If I can't keep up with you, then I'll admit that I'm too busy."
Cady's eyes lit up. She loved a challenge. She stood up, taking the metal from Hephaestus and the two of them began to work side by side.
As they worked, the sexual tension between them grew. Cady couldn't help but be drawn to Hephaestus' raw power, the way he handled the metal with ease and precision. And Hephaestus was captivated by Cady's intelligence and wit, the way she was able to come up with new ideas and solutions on the fly.
The other gods, watching from a distance, couldn't help but root for the two of them to get together. They whispered and giggled amongst themselves, wondering why the two hadn't gotten together yet.
Cady, always the one in control, made the first move. She seductively suggested that they take a break and get to know each other better. Hephaestus, putty in Cady's hands, agreed and the two of them shared a passionate kiss.
The other gods, watching from a distance, cheered and clapped, happy to see the two of them finally together.
Cady and Hephaestus, lost in their own world, ignored the cheers and continued to explore their newfound connection. The sparks of invention had turned into sparks of a different kind, and both of them were eager to see where this new journey would take them.
