The local butcher shop was just opening its doors as Rani, a Desi mom dressed in a traditional saree with her long hair tied in a tight bun, walked in. She greeted the burly butcher, Vikram, with a playful insult, “Good morning, Vikram! I hope you’ve got some meat that’s worth my time today.”
Vikram, used to Rani’s directness, laughed and replied, “Always a pleasure, Rani. I’ve got the best cuts of meat for you today.”
Rani’s eyes scrutinized every piece of meat displayed in the shop before settling on a large, juicy steak. Vikram, impressed by Rani’s discerning eye, commented, “You’ve got good taste, Rani. That’s a rare find.”
Rani, not one to be flattered easily, retorted, “I know what I want, Vikram. And I always get it.”
Vikram, unable to resist Rani’s confidence, flirted back, “I can see that. You’re a force to be reckoned with.”
Rani, amused by Vikram’s attempt at flirting, laughed and said, “Save your charm for someone who’s impressed, Vikram. I’m just here for the meat.”
Vikram, undeterred, continued to banter with Rani, the two of them exchanging playful insults and innuendos as they completed the transaction.
Rani, satisfied with her purchase, turned to leave, but not before giving Vikram one last playful jab, “Don’t work too hard, Vikram. I’ll be back for more meat soon.”
Vikram, watching Rani leave, couldn’t help but feel a stirring in his loins. He thought to himself, “That woman is something else.”
Rani, unaware of Vikram’s thoughts, walked away, a confident smile on her face. As she walked away, Rani couldn’t help but feel a thrill at their flirtatious banter. She thought to herself, “Vikram is a handsome man, but I won’t let him get the best of me.”
The chapter ended with Rani walking away from the butcher shop, a spring in her step, and a promise of more flirtatious banter to come.
