Chapter 1: Crash Landing Heat
The star fighter shuddered as it broke through the atmosphere of the uncharted planet, a verdant jewel in the void of unknown space. Commander Elyse Varn, a striking blonde with piercing blue eyes, gripped the controls with a steely determination, her jaw set tight. At forty-two, her body was a testament to years of combat training—lean, muscular, and unyielding. Beside her, crammed into the cockpit meant for one, was her second-in-command, Lieutenant Kael Draven, a rugged man of thirty-five with a sharp mind and a sharper tongue. Their civilization, the Luminari, was gone, obliterated by the grotesque mutants that hunted them across the stars. This mission—their last hope—was to find a new home.
'If we don’t stick this landing, Elyse, I swear I’ll haunt your gorgeous ass in the afterlife,' Kael quipped, his voice tight with tension but laced with that infuriating smirk she’d come to rely on.
'Keep dreaming, Draven. My ass is off-limits to ghosts and cocky lieutenants alike,' Elyse shot back, her lips curling into a wry grin even as sweat beaded on her brow. The ship groaned, metal screaming as she wrestled it toward a clearing amidst ancient ruins—structures that looked eerily like Luminari tech.
The impact was bone-rattling, a plume of dust and debris erupting as the fighter skidded to a halt. They were alive. Barely. Climbing out of the wreckage, the humid air hit them like a lover’s breath, thick and warm. Elyse’s uniform clung to her skin, outlining every curve as she scanned the horizon. Kael, brushing dirt from his broad shoulders, caught her gaze lingering on the ruins.
'Looks like home, doesn’t it? Or at least a damn good knockoff,' he said, stepping closer, his voice dropping to a husky murmur. 'Bet there’s more than tech waiting for us here, Commander. Feel that heat? It’s not just the climate.'
Elyse turned, her blue eyes flashing with a mix of irritation and undeniable spark. 'Focus, Kael. We’re not on a pleasure cruise. But yeah, I feel it. This place… it’s got a pulse.' She wiped a hand across her forehead, her breath hitching as she noticed how his gaze traced the line of her neck, down to where her uniform strained against her chest.
They moved toward the ruins, the air between them crackling with unspoken tension. Years of fighting side by side had forged a bond neither could ignore, especially now, as the last of their kind. Inside a crumbling structure, they found a chamber with flickering holographic displays—Luminari tech, no doubt. Elyse’s fingers danced over the controls, her mind racing, but her body was hyper-aware of Kael’s presence behind her.
'You know, Elyse, if we’re rebuilding a civilization, we might need to get… creative,' he teased, his breath hot against her ear as he leaned in, pretending to inspect the panel. 'Starting with repopulation.'
She spun around, pinning him with a glare that could melt steel, but her voice was low, dangerous, dripping with challenge. 'You think I’m just gonna roll over for you, Draven? If I want you, I’ll take you. Hard. On my terms.' Her hand brushed against his chest, feeling the heat of him, the way his muscles tensed under her touch.
Kael’s smirk widened, his eyes darkening with raw hunger. 'Oh, I’m counting on it, Commander. I’ve been hard for you since we jumped that last wormhole.'
Her breath caught, a flush creeping up her neck as she felt the truth of his words press against her thigh through their uniforms. The air was thick, their bodies sweating, panting with the weight of survival and desire. Elyse’s hand slid lower, bold and unapologetic, as she whispered, 'Then let’s see if you can keep up.'
Their lips crashed together, a collision of need and defiance, hands tearing at fabric as they stumbled against the ancient wall. The ruins hummed around them, but all Elyse could hear was the pounding of her own heart—and Kael’s growl as she took control, ready to claim every inch of him in a dance as old as the stars themselves.
